My mom and I were big fans of the tv show, Once and Again. It was cancelled after only three seasons. Did anyone else watch it?

Sela Ward, the actress who played the mom, was in town for a book signing. We thought it would make for a fun mother-daughter outing, so we headed to Davis-Kidd Booksellers for a chance to meet her. It was fun until it was our turn to get our books signed. My mom looked at Sela and said, "You are so skinny. Do you eat?"
"It's so nice to meet you."
"I loved Once and Again."
"I can't wait to read your book."
"You are so skinny. Do you eat?"
SERIOUSLY, MOM?!
If I remember correctly, Sela didn't respond at all. She smiled politely, signed our books and thanked us for coming. I was mortified. Thanks, Mom. I'll never attend a book signing with you again.

oh my god. MOM!
Remember the show Sisters? I loved that.
I'm sure Sela was thrilled!
Mom had a point, because Sela is kinda scrawny, but...yeah, totally mortifying.
Oh my gosh! Silly mom, what was she thinking?
that is a GREAT story
Oh Moms. You gotta love 'em. Ah ha ha
ROFL! oh my how embarrassing!
I did love that show!!
Too funny!
I remember the show, but I never watched it. Although I did like Billy Campbell a lot. I liked her on Sisters.
Oh the things our moms like to say! I do remember the show, and I love Sela Ward, but I don't think I watched it regularly. You'll have to tell me how you like her book.
Oh..My..Gah..
Hahahaha...oh my gosh that IS embarrassing! For what it's worth it IS a completely valid question. ;)
I never watched that show. Your mom is funny - does she often say the first thing that pops in her head without maybe, um, thinking it through first? :-)
Note to self.. give mom an approved comment list before meeting anyone famous.
And yes, I loved that show. She was also on Sisters WAY back in the day. I loved that one too.
oh my gosh. that's sooo funny! your poor mom was star struck. awwwwww
Oh.my.stars! I can't believe she asked that. LOL! :) I've never ventured to a book signing...hmmm...
OMG we could have the same mom. I can't even tell you how many times she has mortified me in public with an inappropriate comment.
That's cool you got to meet Sela Ward though! I love her!
Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest, but I'm also really glad you were the person in front of me on the list. I LOVE your blog! (Great name too!)

You were the person directly above me over at SITS-- I love your blog! I'm adding you to my favorites tab :)
LOL, my mom bites her tongue, but my GRAMA on the other hand... oh geez, she would have said that, and THEN offered poor Sela some rolls she'd stashed in her purse from the lunch buffet.

Lol at your mum! I love Sela Ward, we are big fans of Big Love, so it's great to see her in that.
That's so funny! I've always been a fan of hers.
It sounds like she says what she thinks!
I have never seen that show. LOL to Mum, Just think one day that could be you :-D
Congrats on your SITS day! I loved Once and Again. When I was in my mid-thirties someone once told me that I looked like Sela Ward (I wish!)It was like the best day of my life. LOL!
I'm sure she's heard much worse!
Wow...how embarrasing!
Ahhhhh! I mean really, Mom?!
Hysterical. Moms are so great in that way.
Sela Ward is beautiful. Didn't see the show, but I love the lady.
"Sisters" is the show that I watched with my mom and we LOVED it, which is why I went right to this post! I can't believe you mom said that. Oh, God! I lived in LA for 10 years and had my share of run-ins and some good stories! It's AMAZING what people will say around celebrities!
HAPPY SITS DAY!
Sela Ward is from my home state of MS. Of course, I've never met her. In your mom's defense, she was probably just so nervous & I know I just start rambling when I'm nervous.
That is hysterical!
BTW, I love Sela Ward too.
My Mom would so do that. I am friends with a famous someone...last summer I took mom to her home to meet her. She was gracious enough to have planned dinner for us...my Mom says..."Thanks but no thanks. I am too tired. We need to be getting back!!" WHAT?! Back to what?! Our hotel? So, we left after an hour or so...no dinner, nothing. I was so embarrassed!
And yest I LOVED that show!
LOL, the things moms say. I would think the same thing. Never again mom.
So funny!!!! BTW - I loved that show - I was so sad it was cancelled....
stopping by on your sits day :)
LOL That is funny! I too loved that show & was sad when it was canceled. I liked Sisters too with Sela in it!
Too funny! I did watch that show..

Moms are so embarrasing...even when you're an adult! And then you become one.
Moms can be so embarrassing.
Stopping by from SITS.
Dude, that is HILARIOUS.
I'm catching up on the SITS blogs.
It sounds rather mortifying but at the same time, its rather cool that your mom had the balls to open with that line!
Also, LOVED the show Sisters, I had forgotten about that!
Oh My!!! That is awkward. Funnnny how you told the story. LOL
BTW- Coming from UBP12. Nice to kinda/sorta "meet" you! Looking forward to viewing some more posts! :)
