I went through several point-and-shoot cameras before switching to an SLR.

Why did I get an SLR?
I was tired of blurry photographs. In case you didn't know, children move fast.

What is an SLR camera?
"The single-lens reflex (SLR) camera uses an automatic moving mirror system which permits the photographer to see exactly what will be captured by the film or digital imaging system, as opposed to non-SLR cameras where the view through the viewfinder could be significantly different from what was captured on film." -- from Wikipedia

Which camera do I use?
I currently use the Nikon D40. You can read about it here. I've used Nikon cameras for years based off of a friend's recommendation. I don't have anything against Canon cameras. I hear they're fantastic. Ask a Canon user, they'll suggest a Canon. Ask a Nikon user, they'll suggest a Nikon. If you're thinking about making the switch to an SLR, I'd suggest trying out several cameras in the store before throwing down your credit card.

I love my camera. I love my lenses. Photography and pictures are an important part of my life. I hope to learn more as the years go by.

Writer's Workshop; My Life's Anthem

My life's anthem would have to be Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. It is, by far, my favorite song in the universe. If I were to get up and sing it in front of people, you can bet your ass I'd be doing it like this.

Monkeys and pigs can't fly, but time can.

I can't believe it's been six months since Little Bit was born. She loves attention, rolling over and grabbing for things she shouldn't have. She can't quite sit up on her own, but tries and tries. It won't be long. I'm lucky to have both a son and a daughter. The differences are already immeasurable.

Memorial Day Cookout

Since I'm obviously late with this holiday recap, I'll make it short. After the zoo, we went to Peace, Love & Applesauce's house for a cookout. I picked up some potato salad on the way. These girls are the best. There was gossip, great food and wet kids running around.

Memorial Day Zoo Trip

Our Memorial Day weekend was slow and uneventful until Monday. The Hero had to work, so the kids and I went to the zoo. We joined a few mom-friends and their kiddos. We had a nice, quick visit until the dark clouds rolled in. We made it to the car right before the rain hit.

Somebody...

Somebody had a 30% off Borders coupon. Somebody also had $15 in Borders Bucks. Somebody bought the first season of True Blood for nearly $30 off the original price. When the kids fall asleep, somebody will be curled up in bed watching vampires on the flat screen.



Somebody may be tired at work tomorrow. Somebody doesn't care.

The Hero and I thought we'd give solids a try since Little Bit will be 6 months old next week. We tried bananas first since those were always her brother's favorite. I should have known she'd be the exact opposite. We won't give up, but only because we hope to see expressions like this again.

I've been a fan of American Idol since Season 1. I've thoroughly enjoyed every season. Scratch that. I could have done without Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis. I told myself I didn't really care for anyone this year. As the weeks went on, I became attached to two.


These guys are great, but couldn't be more different. In the end, I voted for Adam Lambert because I thought he deserved to win. It's cool. Kris Allen will make a great American Idol.


I went to bed with a sad face, but quickly got over it. Let's be honest. Neither are as great as my true Idol love, Mr. David Cook.

I uploaded some pictures last night. I didn't get to the ones I really wanted to share. I'm that behind. Here's one I did get to. Can anyone remember sleeping this peacefully? I certainly can't.

Not Me Monday; Mini Vacation

1. I do NOT hate being back at work after having 4 days off.
2. I am NOT thinking about deleting my MySpace account because everyone is on Facebook.
3. I am NOT upset about this because I do NOT like MySpace a lot more than I like Facebook.

Our mini-vacation was wonderful. The Hero and I spent a lot of time relaxing and hanging out in our room. I read a magazine on the balcony. He looked at stuff on our laptop. We napped. We went out to dinner. We saw two movies. (Star Trek and Angels & Demons) Both movies are great, but we definitely enjoyed Star Trek more. You don't have to be familiar with the storyline. You don't even have to be a fan of science fiction. It's a movie for the masses.

Little Man spent most of Saturday and Sunday outdoors. We bought him an inflatable pool. It was only in the low to mid 70s so he wasn't able to stay in the water long. He didn't care though. Little Bit got sunburned. She was in the shade with The Hero for an hour or two. I didn't realize he moved her until it was too late. Twenty minutes in the sun was too much for her sensitive skin. We're keeping her coated in Aloe Vera. Other than being a few shades of red, she's her normal, happy self. I took a lot of pictures. I uploaded and edited them last night. I'll share a few as soon as I get a chance.

The Hero and I have been married for 7 years.

Who do you prefer?

Last night, I watched Transformers with Little Man. I'd only seen it one other time. I forgot how much I liked it. Cars that can transform into robots? Wicked cool. I wish everyone would stop talking about how hot Megan Fox is though. Yes, she's attractive, but I think she's a younger, trashier verson of Angelina Jolie. I'd much rather look at Angelina. Who do you prefer? (It's ridiculous that I'm even asking this question since I only have 1 male follower.)




I also watched American Idol. I wasn't surprised by last night's elimination. I don't think it really matters who goes home as long as it's not Adam. I think it's a pretty safe bet to put your money on him being the next American Idol. I didn't like him at first, but he's grown on me. He's no David Cook, but he'll do.




Speaking of music, guess who's going to see New Kids On The Block in July? I never thought I'd actually go if they came to town, but my fabulous friends and I decided we couldn't pass up the opportunity. None of us were able to see them when we were younger. It'll be like 5th grade all over again. I might even rock a side ponytail for the occassion. I know you're jealous.




I'm looking forward to the weekend. The Hero's birthday is tomorrow. (He'll be 34.) I got him speakers for his truck because that's what he asked for. We're having dinner with his family on Saturday. After dinner, we'll be seeing Wolverine. We always go to the movies for our birthdays. Too bad Terminator Salvation's not out yet. I'd rather see a Christian Bale movie, but won't knock on a shirtless Hugh Jackman. Now that's a better question for the ladies. Who do you prefer? Christian or Hugh? Tough decision considering they're both hot and have sexy accents.
