iLove Tuesday Tunes; Young and Beautiful

First off, I'd like to thank Lala.com for allowing me to share songs in my blog posts. I didn't know how until last night. Lala rocks!

This week's featured song is Young and Beautiful by Elvis Presley. Growing up, my dad listened to a lot of Elvis. I also happen to live in the city where Elvis lived most of his life. To say this is an Elvis town would be a huge understatement. I love Elvis. I've seen all of his movies. Every year during the weeks of his birth and death, there are Elvis movie marathons. I would go to sleep early only to have my dad sneak me out of bed a couple of hours later. We'd stay up all night watching Elvis movies. Sadly, I've been estranged from my father since the age of six. Regardless of all that's happened, I have some wonderful memories of him.

My favorite Elvis movie is Jailhouse Rock. I still get chills every time I see the part in the movie where he starts to sing this song.

Oooh! My favorite is Jailhouse Rock, too!

I don't really have a favorite Elvis song, though. Too many good ones. I remember we used to have this old recording from a concert where he was singing...I think it was "Are You Lonesome Tonight" and he misses some words and starts cracking up. Hilarious!

Actually, we live where Elvis lived.. He was born in Tupelo, MS

I have some fond memories of watching old Elvis movies with my grandfather. I still love Jailhouse Rock & the ones where he went to Hawaii. One of my relatives looks alot like the young Elvis. I used to think it was him or that we were somehow related.

I have fond memories of my dad when I hear Elvis too. Jelly donuts and banana and peanut butter sandwiches.

You do realize that this song is a euphemism for guy-on-guy prison sex, right? Seriously, read the lyrics.
