Britney Spears Pic(s) of the Week // Unafraid

There are many reasons why I love Britney Spears. The number one reason has to be her attitude. She doesn't care what you think. She doesn't always fix her hair, put on makeup or wear a bra. She hits up public restrooms when she needs to pee. She wears the same shoes over and over again when she probably has hundreds of pairs. She may be a pop star with millions of dollars, but ultimately she's a woman with imperfections.

During the latest Candies ad campaign, Britney insisted her photos remain unaltered. She agreed for retouched versions to appear alongside the originals highlighting the pressure on women to look perfect.

Remember this the next time you see your favorite celebrity on the cover of a magazine. Pimples, cellulite, bad hair, big hips, sagging boobs and flabby stomachs can happen to anyone. If we were all model thin and perfect, life as we know it would be pretty boring. I also hope the critics remember this the next time they want to trash Britney. You go, girl!

She looks great in the untouched photo! They need to leave that girl alone, and they need to get rid of Kevin Federline!

I have always loved Britney, for reals. These pictures are awesome and I think she is a total rockstar for putting the two next to each other!! Thanks for posting these!

Man, I wish I could walk around looking photoshopped!

Aside from the slight camel problem in the original, I think it's a better pic. I hate how the media distorts women's body for photo covers. We have a hard enough time with body image without them f'ing with it more.

It's nice to know that even Britt with her trainers & insane workout schedule still has cellulite. Makes me feel a little better about the dimples I'm sporting.

She looks amazing in the untouched ones. She really can clean up well.

But man, her hair is still looking trashy!

Yeah, I thought it was awesome she did this! Fuck those other celebrities! Haha.

I love it! def makes me feel better about myself

I've seen a couple of celebrities do this from Jamie Lee Curtis to Aisha Tyler. I think people should do it more often! Its so awful having a "false" sense of reality when flipping through magazines. We work so hard to have those bodies, when they AREN'T EVEN REAL!!!

Oh, How I've missed B's POTW.. Retouching for her most def looks better! Although, had she just sprayed before, she prob would've looked pretty damn good!
Props on the rear shrinkage.. looks much better.. HA!

She definitely does NOT care what people think. I've seen her in some weird outfits I wouldn't even leave the house in and who am I. More power to her!

I already saw these pictures on a few blogs, but DAMN, I think Britney looks better in the first picture, honestly. I've always loved her, and almost love her more for all the shit she's been through. Maybe more celebrities will see this and realize it's not bad to be "real" for once. =]

I heart Brit ... while she always looks like a hot mess, I give her mad props for keepin' it real!

Major kudos to Brit for standing up for women on this!

Ms. B,,imperfect but we still lurve her!

love her for keeping it real... i hate these UNreal, insane expectations we have as women for our bodies. truth is - 99.9% of these photos are doctored!

I always admired her for being herself! I love these side by side pictures! It makes me feel a whole lot better about myself! That's a real woman!

I really like her and think the photos look great! Its always a nice reminder that celebrities are people too! Imperfections and all! :) Thanks for posting this! :)

She looks pretty good to me in the untouched photo. I wish I knew how to use Picnik better. I could really spruce myself up.

Great and how can normal women fight against the injustice of airbrush?!

But where did you get the untouched photos we should promote natural, healthy celebrity more often.

Well done.

sadly, compared to mine, her cellulite looks cute.

I cannot believe that people would want to touch that photo up! She looks great, and in the altered photo she just looks like every other fake girl out there.

Mighty M said...

That is awesome - hopefully many more will follow suit!

It's so weird to me that people would touch it up so much. She seriously looks great in the 1sst pic. I wouldn't have even noticed that anything needed to be done at all. Hollywood is SO WEIRD.

Good for her! I'm usually not a Britney fan but I think that is fabulous! She looks great as is!

Wow she's brave! I would never show a picture of myself with camel toe! =)

I just found your blog through SITS and thought you had me hooked when I saw your banner, (ha!) then I see that you're a Britney Spears fan too?? I think I love you :p

With 2 kids and all the crazy stuff she gets into, she still looks pretty great in the "untouched" photos.

Geez, you had to go and make me think well of Britney, didn't you? Glad she did that! She looks great in the 'befores'!

Monique-aka-Surferwife23 said...

She does indeed rock for doing this. And she looks fantastic untouchedif I do say so myself.

Wow. This IS an eyeopener. I wish all celebs would do this.

There is a lovely ad from Dove here that makes this point with an unknown model. It strikes a chord.

Also, I remember when Jenny McCarthy used to go on talk shows with her pin ups from playboy and go over them with a Sharpie and draw her stretch marks and 'cottage cheese thighs'. I fell in love with her after that.

Standing O lady! Everyone has their flows and it doesn't make them any less beautiful.

Hi there, I'm visiting from Karen's blog, A Peek at Karen's World. This is great to see because even though it's common knowledge that almost everyone in or on a magazine is airbrushed, it's hard to imagine how really.

Marcie said...

I love Brit too and am so excited when I meet another fellow Brit lover!

I am the latest follower of your blog. It is great!

Cheers!

I would really like to know who does all the market research that says muscle-less stick legs will sell more sneakers than her real (and very muscular) legs! I can understand getting rid of the cellulite and bruises... but the muscles? Come ON!
