Things You May Not Know, Part IV

My favorite painting is The Scream by Edvard Munch. I'm not really sure why I love it so much. I guess it's my curious nature. Why is he screaming? Who are those people behind him? Is he running from them? Why are they so calm?

I tend to keep acrylic nails on because I bite my own. It drives my grandmother mad.

I've seen two UFOs. I saw the first when I was around thirteen. I saw the second one with The Hero six or seven years ago. We thought we were crazy, but numerous people called in to a local radio station to say they'd seen it too. Could they have been something other than UFOs? I'm all for another explanation, but they certainly didn't look like any aircraft I've ever seen.

I've broken my right thumb two times in the exact same place doing the exact same thing. The first time was in seventh grade. The second time was my senior year of high school. I was a cheerleader. When doing stunts, I was always the spot. If you don't know what the spot's job is, let me tell you. My main duty was to make sure the girl on top of the pyramid didn't hit the ground. I was a great spot. I obviously sacrificed my thumb for my climber on two different occasions. I had to wear a cast to my elbow both times.

I have an expensive sound system in my car. You can hear me coming from a mile away. For real!

I'm an excellent judge of character.

Munch said this about the painting:

I was walking along a path with two friends — the sun was setting — suddenly the sky turned blood red — I paused, feeling exhausted, and leaned on the fence — there was blood and tongues of fire above the blue-black fjord and the city — my friends walked on, and I stood there trembling with anxiety — and I sensed an infinite scream passing through nature.

Some people think the sky was red because of the volcano Krakatoa which erupted in 1883 and spewed ash into the atmosphere causing amazing sunsets all around the world...

JP's quote exemplifies the brilliance of an amazing artist.

I pooh-poohed the UFO thing until last week when Stephen Hawking announced there are aliens out there and it would be best if we left them alone, because they're not nice. Now, I'm freaking out about aliens among us.

I love these posts

I'm an Art History major so I am HUGELY into art. I also love this painting. I'm a big modern art fan.

WE also have a MASSIVE sound system in our car- like a hard core one that my husband put it with an extra nob to increase the bass. I love it when I don't have the kids in the car and can really blast it.

Ah, I too, was The Spot. Which meant I was the one who placed my hand directly onto the flyer's butt in order to boost her into the air in one of her perfect Liberty's or Scorpion's. I was also most likely to get whacked in the nose catching her from a basket-toss.

No broken thumbs though...lucky me!

I love these posts! So, tell us more about what these UFO's looked like. My friend saw one two years ago and everyone around us thinks she is crazy, but I believe her!

Very cool things to know! I must confess that your boomin' system would drive me insane. But, I'd love to see you cruzin' down the street kickin' it your way! : ) I need to keep my nails painted, I think it would help me to not pick my cuticles and any dry skin I have lurking. But, I rarely take the time to do this.

A cast to your elbow over a broken thumb?? Yikes!

I've seen UFOs a couple of times, too. One of them was pretty creepy. Maybe I should share that story one of these days...

I heart these posts about yo'self. It just confirms to me that if I ever move to your neck of the woods, I would have an instant bff. Ha Ha!

Expensive and LOUD car stereo...ahhh you're a girl after my own heart!!!! What's the point of listening to good music if the entire neighborhood can't enjoy it with you!??!?!

I've heard that when people think they see UFO's it is just military/government things that was just so confidential that the public has never heard of them.

I have an expensively loud radio in my car as well & love it. Some of my favorite moments have been at red lights when another car is next to me blaring obnoxious music. I can simply turn mine up louder... so satisfying. : ) It's the little things in life, right?

I'm not a cat person, but that cat picture is just too cute. I can't believe the cast went all the way to your elbow!

Shite, that painting would give me nightmares girl! Reminds me of the movie Scream.

I enjoy these posts and linked back to all the ones I missed - nice job!

The picture of that kitty kills me. How freaking cute! And I'm sure you were equally as cute as that kitten in your cast!

Whatever happened to just happy cheers? Poor baby. Are you still 'spotting'?

I wish I had a giant boom box, like in that picture. I totally want to build one now!

Note to self: try not to break thumb.

Thanks for sharing! That cat is too cute - I bet you looked just as cute with your cast. :)

You don't strike me as a cheerleader. I love you. Cheerleaders not so much. BUT, you did risk your thumb TWICE for other cheerleaders and I like to think if I was a cheerleader I'd be like you.
How many times can I say cheerleader?
Also...that's weird about wearing a cast all the way to your elbow! What a pain in the ass.

I did not know any of that! Go figure!

I haven't seen any ufo's but I know several aliens!

I need a new car stereo so bad. Do they even call them that anymore? Anyway, there is something loose and I only get one channel. Yep, just one. Thank God it's one I like.

Okay, I just found you through Salt Says... You sold me at the title of your blog. Then I fell in love with you when I saw you love the painting "the scream". Finally, as I stalked through your "Things You May Not Know" posts I decided I shall hereby stalk your blog.

And please tell me you have a handgun. In my mind you have a one. I'm still deciding on what kind it is though.

Love me some Munch! raced through the Louvre at age 18 to see one of his more obscure paintings in person.
Also--you are the coolest person ever for seeing a UFO. The end.
