Random of the Day; Germ Fighting

I found these germ fighting tips on a newsletter at work. Germs are bad, people. Germs are bad!

1. Take your shoes off and put them on a rack or in a closet nearest the door where you enter your house. Germs, allergens and other contaminants collect on shoes and can be tracked throughout the house.

2. Keep your toothbrush and toothpaste in the medicine cabinet. Flushing the toilet disperses microbes as far away as six feet, and many of them collect in the bathroom sink.

3. Avoid putting your purse on the kitchen counter or on any surface where food is prepared or eaten. Researchers have found that purse bottoms can contain more than 10,000 bacteria per square inch.

4. Use the end stalls in public bathrooms. The middle stalls harbor the most bacteria.

5. Frequently clean your cell phone and your hands-free headphones or blue tooth with an alcohol swab to remove bacteria.

Do you have any germ fighting tips to share?

i've heard that you should use the first stall, b/c more people tend to you the middle and last ones. oh well, i just go to the first available one.

and i put my purse on our kitchen table. luckily, we don't eat off of it. ;)

I knew there was a good reason for asking everyone to take their shoes off when they first walk in! Besides keeping the carpet clean...

Don't forget to wash those hands, with soap, and sing the ABC's... ok, just kidding about the song part.

Thank you for bringing awareness to the poo particles collecting on toothbrushes *shudder*
I have a purse hanger to use at restaurants instead of dropping my bag on the floor, its handy and also a pretty accessory ;)

Ewwwwwwww!

I've heard don't ever put your purse on the public bathroom floor.

I used to have a coworker who slips out of heels and into flats to go home and would put her shoes ON her desk while she was changing. Her shoes that traipsed all over the bathroom and the desk she ate lunch on. SICK.

I use hand sanitizer several times while out shopping AND I am one of those people who actually use the wipes provided to clean the handle of the shopping cart.

Great tips! I love the Batman sign! That's awesome!

I just wash my hands frequently and keep an antibacterial hand gel at my desk. I also encourage Isaiah to sneeze or cough into his elbow, that way no germs are on his hands. We tell all the kiddos to sing "Happy Birthday" while washing their hands (fronts, back, and inbetween)...that should be long enough to get all the germs off.

I also try not to touch door handles (especially bathroom ones). I'll use my elbow, shoulder, etc to open a door...or a paper towel from the bathroom.

DON'T DRINK OUT OF WATER FOUNTAINS. I try to tell Isaiah to not use the water fountain at school. He might drink out of it anyway, but I definitely don't let him when we're out and about.

I think that's about it. LOL :)

Tons of water and vitamin C.
Of course, I must have been lacking since I've been sicker than a dead horse for the past 3+ weeks.
So yah - I'll get right on that.

I saw a nasty bitch use a public bathroom and then walk out without washing her hands.

I think your advice will be a little far over the heads of the less primitive people, like the nasty skank in my example, but I see where you're coming from. ;)

I read that once. About shit particles floating to your toothbrush. EW!

Yay, I already use the end stalls of bathrooms, but that is because I don't like people right next to me and if I'm against the wall then I at least have half a chance that no one will be peeing next to me. That is weird. Pisses me off. In a long line of stalls, WHY, WHY?? Pray tell, do some people choose a stall right next to someone??? Ok, I'll stop now. I like my space.

I get so mad when people come to work/school sick and then want to use my phone or my computer. Especially when they start coughing all over everything. Gross!

I used to teach piano in my home. Mothers would bring their sick children, the ones they kept home from school, because they didn't want the child to miss their favorite lessons! The keys were covered in germs and I had to do a thorough wiping between each student!... grrrr....

Okay, I had heard of some of those but not all. Yuck!!

Thanks on the tip about cleaning your cell phone. I never really think about that. But I cleaned it today with clorox wipes.
Thanks......I'll clean it more often now!

as a diagnosed germaphobe, even though i already knew all of these, reading them gave me a panic attack.

especially the shoe one :-/

hopefully not any any carpet in my house and swiffering my wood floors everyday helps with the shoe germs.. ick.

YAY! I already do all of these things - SCORE ONE FOR ME! I'm trying to think of a good tip other than washing your hands, but honestly I am at a loss. But I really really wanna have a print of the BATMAN image at the bottom!
