Down in the Bloggin' Dumps

I try to blog daily, Monday through Friday. For a while, I scheduled almost every post in advance. Lately, I just haven’t been feeling it. I haven’t wanted to read blogs. I haven’t wanted to put posts together. Considering the number of comments I’ve been getting, I’m starting to think it’s a worldwide epidemic.
In case you didn't know, I have a full-time job outside of the home. I can't use the internet to blog at work. {For shame!}

Even though we have two computers at home, I can never seem to get on one. The Hero is usually on the laptop while Little Man plays games on the desktop. When I can finally steal one of them away, I’m too tired to bother.

I have a house to keep up. Unfortunately, magic and sparkles do not keep our house clean and the laundry put away.

I have tv shows to watch and books to read. Every night, once the kids are asleep in bed, I relax with a show or book. I make sure I get me time every day even if it’s only 30 minutes.

It’s hard to be cheerful and funny when all you really want to do is break stuff and scream obscenities because certain things in your life are frustrating and out of your control.
All of these things aside, my blog is an outlet. It’s a place where I can vent, laugh, tell a story, get feedback, and share the love with others. I’m thankful for this place. I’m thankful for the friendships. I’m thankful for everything I have here. Just know that even though we might be on a break, I’m never too far away.

So, what's been keeping you so busy?

I totally hear you! Lately I’ve been writing my posts for the week all at once on the weekend, but then it doesn’t feel as fresh or fun. And like you, every couple days, I read everyone’s posts and go on a commenting spree. With chores, errands, my sisters upcoming wedding (and shower that I’m throwing this weekend), and an attempt at potty training, I don’t have time during the day. My TiVo is full, I have a pile of books and magazines by the bed and a Netflix queue that hasn’t moved in weeks. Ahhh, life.

I feel you! Sometimes it is really hard! take a break until you feel better or inspired....nothing wrong with that. I gotta do the same stuff and it's okay if the blog comes last...

I get the same way... This week has been a little better, but last week after getting back from being out of town, and google reader saying like 450, I didn't want to even look at it. But I'm better now :-) For now at least...

I totally feel ya! It seems like if I take the time to tend to the blog, then I slack on reading or commenting.. If I read & comment, I lose all interest in writing.
Let's not even discuss the laundry & cleaning situation. It's a never ending battle.

Blogland is definitely drying up. I see blogs left and right just not posting anymore. I went back recently to check up on several blogs I've been following to see that it's been MONTHS since they've posted anything! I'm not a commenter, usually I'm reading from my reader on my phone, but either way I just never stop and comment, I need to be better about that. I read ALL your blogs and you're how I stay up-to-date with the celeb gossip! So please don't go anywhere for long! The world needs hotpants!!!

I hear you on this - and an occasional blogging break is a good thing! I'll be here when you are! :)

Okay, we just talked about this, didn't we? I loved the YouTube link.
Front and back!!! LOVE that scene, one of my favorites ever.

Girl - I feel ya! I just posted today ... the first time in 2 weeks!! It sucks when you stress about blogging ... cuz it isn't supposed to be a stress! I hate when comments are low or non-existent. I get frustrated that I put in the effort of a post and no one cared. I hate talking to myself ... if my blog isn't entertaining people enough to wanna comment, then I don't want to waste my own valuable time. Ugh ... see, you are not alone in the blogging dumps! Hopefully we can all pull out of this slump soon! :o)

I tried to blog every day. Obviously that didn't pan out, but I try for 3 times a week. Life is too busy to spend all of it blogging. :)

I feel you...

My family is insane...I have to handhold for everyone. My kids give me grief, I'm tired...The house won't clean itself...you know, the usual! ;)

I hear ya!!

You are talking my language. Work - both of them, family, house, yard, etc... leaves little to no time to have fun.

Enjoy you break!

Totally understand where you're coming from. It is hard to keep it all together and still find time for blogging. I'm still hear reading though...even though I don't comment as often as I should (like).

Hello - I know exactly what you mean. I hear myself saying to people how busy I am and then (those who know I blog) seem to raise an eyebrow as if to say 'well, you make time to blog'. I find it an outlet and I do make time for it - but that is because I can be in front of a computer alot of the time. Try not to be gloomy about it - whenever you post anything it's a breath of fresh air. Lou x

No worries hon...I just finally got the blog back up and running after several months of Blog FAIL-hood. Then again, two full-time jobs, graduate coursework, a full-time lab/research schedule, a wedding to plan, a fiance, a dog, a major surgery and two major illnesses will do that. ;)

Don't feel bad about it...you know we'll all stick around and be ready for your next post. :)

I try to post every weekday, but I've been so busy lately. I can't wait until school is finished in June! With that, and work, and the animal shelter... I am just glad the only children I have to worry about are furry. :)

I hear ya sister. Every single day, to nothing. Not feeling it. Other ones are so good that I think mine isn't worth it anymore.

I am having the exact same problem.. I call it the spring slump!

Ugh! I understand, but... in a completely selfish way...no! Where will I get my celebrity gossip?

I'm stunned at the number of young women who have committed to writing daily blog posts and wondering when and if they were going to get overwhelmed. Regardless of it being an outlet, blogging is a JOB, plain and simple. I've run businesses, raised my family, and volunteered for community and church work -- each one absorbs an enormous amount of time and we didn't have the instant communication of today.

You women amaze me. When I was starting my blog, I asked around and everyone said you needed to blog at least once a day -- to which I replied, BS. If you're trying to earn a living blogging, that's one thing. If it's a place to share and vent, you can cut down to every three or four days and your followers not only understand, they look forward to not having to read YOU every day.

I love your postings and look forward to seeing them, again, but not at the expense of your well-being. Catch your breath and don't let the masses create unrealistic goals. {{{HUGS}}}

We'll be here when you are ready to come back. Whenever life isn't going so well here, I tend to take a break from blogging too. I hate to do negative posts (at least not too many of them), so instead of spreading negativity, I take a few days off until I'm feeling more positive.

I hope things ease up for you. And don't worry, we aren't leaving.

I understand I've been in a blogging slump myself lately!

I just came back from a 5 month break. Don't feel bad at all!

Yep definitely an epidemic. I'm so tired by time I get a chance to sit down in front of the computer I'm lucky if I get a Facebook status written much less a whole post.

So no worries no one's going anywhere, were all just coasting through life right now I think it's that time of year.

It definitely goes in waves.

I've had more time for blogging this month than ever. It's been a lot of fun, but I'm getting ready for a break.

I definitely go through phases with the blog where I'm all over it and then days where I don't want to be near it. I don't have a full time job but I've been keeping busy with projects and getting quality time in with the hubs when he's not working. Sometimes it's nice to just take a break and relax. Blogging shouldn't feel like a chore. Get your you time Hot pants, you deserve it!

Girl, I feel your pain. I blog 2-3 times a week and even that beats me down. I love reading blogs but I definitely get lazy a lot and read in my google reader or on my phone but then I don't always comment and I hate not commenting if I've read something. It's just rude.

Take a break. We'll still be here when you get back. But could you still do Talk of Tinseltown? Kthanks.

This post pretty much totally sums up my feelings towards blogging right now. I love it, and it's most definitely my hobby but life just gets in the way! I never have the time to write as much as I want, or sometimes I've got nothing much to say and I'd rather just watch tv....

Yeah, i've been a little 'eh' about blogging too. I went a whole week last week without blogging and didn't even notice. I've been a bad reader and commenter too. life is just taking over!

I feel ya. (TWSS)

I don't know how you working moms do it. I dont have to do half that crap and I can barely manage to post or read.

It comes in phases anymore.

Girl, I say it all the time, I have no idea how you do it all! I don't work and get in the bloggy dumps. My 3 year blogging anniversary is tomorrow and every year I question, why continue? Sometimes it feels like a job!
