Why I Should Never Blog at Work

Remember when I posted pictures of The Rock for this Hump Day Hottie post? I scrambled to put the post together at work because I forgot to do it the night before. My first mistake was forgetting to schedule the post. My second mistake was putting the post together at work. If you'll recall, there were several shirtless pics of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. I had my browser minimized as I put pictures of a shirtless, glistening Rock into a collage. I was careful to make sure no one was around.

Here's a picture of my computer setup at work. I have two large flat screens on my desk, one horizontal and one vertical. Anyone who walks by my office can see the screens from the doorway. People are nosy. They look in here all the time. I was being extremely cautious. I wasn't taking my time though. I was clicking and uploading pics in a hurry. Somehow, I inadvertently made one of the pictures my wallpaper on the vertical screen. {We just got the second screen. I never use it. I'm not even sure how it works.}

Panic ensued. This picture of The Rock was blown up to full size on what I believe is a 21-inch monitor. You have never seen someone click so many buttons in so little time. I was breathing heavy and praying that no one walked by. I felt like I was going to get caught looking at porn. Thankfully, I was able to get the picture off the screen without anyone seeing. Or, if anyone did, they were too embarrassed to say anything.

So, have you ever done anything this stupid at work?

Tell me about it, so I don't feel so bad.

HAHAHAHA! That's hysterical! I've definitely had that panicked feeling before, as though I got caught doing something bad!

I read your Hump Day Hotties posts while at work... does that count?

But I work in a secluded corner surrounded by 4 coworkers who play games and browse Amazon most of the day, so no big deal hahaha

I brought up actual porn ACCIDENTLY one time...complete with sound effects. I was trying to bring up a website, typed in the address and hit enter. What I didn't realized, until afterwards, was a I had missed a letter when I typed in the address. I was mortified!!

If I was walking by and saw it, I would have just stopped and enjoyed the view! :)

I'm with Heather!
And, yes, I've done WAY stupider crap than that at work. And 21 inch screens are HUGE. That's what mine was at work.

That picture of The Rock would have me breathing heavy too:)

I'm always paranoid when I'm at work that someone will see my blog- which is an anonymous record of us trying to conceive our first baby- which I obviously don't need my work to know about!

I suggest you figure out that second screen asap, or just come up with a work related reason for random hotties to be on there!

That's so funny! I used to spend a lot of time online shopping and on Myspace when I worked. My boss could see my screen if she walked up behind me. My co-worker used to IM me when she was on her way to give me a heads up. You need someone to have your back!

If I had seen that I would have made a comment later like "So, The Rock, huh?" Haha

That's hilarious! I have dual monitors but they look nothing like that! And yes I have done something very stupid at work. On April Fool's Day I downloaded a virus becuase I was looking for office practical jokes. And I work for a computer company. I felt like a dumbass!

I had a friend send me a horrible e-mail once and didn't warn me...she thought she had sent it to my personal e-mail...I was nervous for days that the corporate guys would storm in and confiscate my computer for porn.....so, yes, I have been there too.

I brought my laptop to work one day because it was slow and I wanted to work on some writing. I'd left it open, but the screen saver came on while I was talking to a coworker. All the color drained from my face when I followed her gaze to my screensaver and saw some "before" pics my roommate and I had taken just before we started a new exercise program. Mortifying!

I am a new follower and wanted to say hi :)
First of all... LOVE the title of your blog! My "hubby" is looking at getting a handgun, and since I am the chick known to be in stilettos with a cute purse, I love this!
I worry all the time about blogging, fbing, etc at work... usually just use my phone, but if I know I am going to be alone at the office, obviously no worries then :)
Have a great week!

Not me, but someone I know flew for a job offer and had to fax the receipts to get reimbursed. He faxed it from his current work computer and then put the fax in the recycling bin. He was "laid off" due to "restructuring of roles" two days later.

When I worked, blogger was blocked. In fact, almost every site was blocked. I guess working as a teacher, they don't want the little childrens to have access to anything that might have some porno linked to it. So, in other words, at least you can blog from work. =)

I'd totally make that my screen saver!!! But I totally get what you mean - I've been doing this for weeks now while finding wedding dress pictures!

LMFAO! That's something I would totally do. No need to feel embarrassed...your material was totally worth looking at. :)

Well...once at work I was stacking up a whole heap of empty boxes to take out to the bin when I managed to fall in the pile. The worst part? I got stuck in the pile and had to get someone else to help me climb out. Not even a co-worker but a client. Awkward.

HAHA...Sorry. Thankfully I have the kind of job where nobody would care if I DID actually look at porn! I understand your dilemna though.
