Project 52; Update #4

I slacked off for a while, but I should finally be able to get some things crossed off my list now that summer is here. Speaking of summer, the temps have been hovering around 100 most days. I may need a nudge or two to get outside for some of these.
1. Read 30 books. (12/30)
Now that my shows are on hiatus, I've been able to read a lot more. I've read five books in the last couple of weeks.

Torn, Amanda Hocking - 3 out of 5 stars
Dead to the World, Charlaine Harris - 4 out of 5 stars
Lies that Chelsea Handler Told Me, Chelsea Handler - 3.5 out of 5 stars
Ascend, Amanda Hocking - 4 out of 5 stars
The Final Testament of the Holy Bible, James Frey - 3 out of 5 stars

If you'd like to keep up with what I'm reading, you can follow me at Goodreads.

2. See 8 movies in the theater. (4/8)
I saw two more movies in the theater so I'm halfway there, people. First, I saw Fast Five. I've seen each movie in the franchise. The first is my favorite, but the new one comes in a close second. Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Tyrese, and The Rock? Seriously, I would have watched even if it were a silent film. You know what I mean?

I also saw The Hangover II. Was it as funny as the first one? I'm thinking not. Was is still really really funny? Absolutely. I laughed out loud numerous times. There's a couple of one-liners I'll probably never forget. Overall, I did not leave the theater disappointed.

What is this? A P.F. Chang's?

I wish monkeys could Skype.

I am a nurse. I'm just not registered.

No, he said I’m farting because of my medication.

He’s got a banana on his helmet. This guy’s the real deal.

I don’t understand what’s going on. Is this some sort of magic show?

Your password is bologna one?
Well, it used to be just bologna. Now they make you add numbers!

There’s a demon in me.
It’s true, he has semen in him.
I said demon.
You also have semen in you, remember?

19. Watch 20 movies from my Netflix queue. 9/20
I'm on a roll with at-home movie watching.

We all know how much I love Adam Sandler. Grown Ups wasn't a waste of two hours, but it's not a movie I plan to watch over and over again. I was expecting Couples Retreat to be hilarious since it got great reviews. I didn't even finish it. It wasn't funny at all. I also felt lukewarm about Get Him to the Greek which also got great reviews. I love Russell Brand, but I just didn't laugh that much. I mostly thought it was stupid.

I watched The Ugly Truth, which didn't get great reviews, but I really liked it. Katherine Heigl is a little annoying, but Gerard Butler is quite lickable likeable. The story was cute. I laughed a lot. It's not the best romantic comedy out there, but it's definitely worth a watch. I hadn't heard much about Dear John before I watched it. I've never been a big Channing Tatum fan, but I'll admit I may have changed my mind. I get it now. This movie is like a cheapened version of The Notebook though. The story wasn't half bad. I didn't want to turn it off or anything. It's just... Well, the ending sucked. Don't you hate it when you get invested in a film and end up wanting to throw things at the tv when it's over? It's totally one of those.

The last two were definitely my favorites. Easy A with Emma Stone was hilarious. This one is fun, quirky and extremely entertaining. I can see myself watching it again and again. Last, but not least, we have Remember Me with Mr. Rob Pattinson. I liked it for obvious reasons. {Jaw Porn} I loved the story and the characters. What I didn't love was the ending. I had heard it was shocking, but I totally wasn't prepared for that.

27. Go to the zoo at least 3 times during the summer months. 1/3
The kids and I went to the zoo with friends Memorial Day weekend. The Memphis Zoo has special 'members only' events a couple of times a year. This was our third year in a row to attend this particular event. There's music, entertainment and free rides. The kids had an absolute blast. We stopped at McDonald's on the way home. Both kids were asleep before they finished their nuggets.

7. Be bikini ready by May 1 June 1.
Even though my body isn't where I'd like it to be, I'm marking this one off the list. I tried on and purchased a bikini. I didn't cry. I wore it in front of other people. I didn't cry. Success!

31. Potty train Little Bit.
We're getting there. She has done #1 and #2 in the potty one time each. We still have a ways to go, but I think diapers will be a thing of the past very soon.

How are you coming along on your 2011 plans?

Sounds like you're doing a great job getting your list completed. I need to work on mine too!

We just watched Hangover 2 last night. I had heard it wasn't as good as the first. It had been so long since I watched the first one, I can't really compare. I know I laughed my butt off during most of it though. I noticed a package of marshmallows in my pantry this morning & couldn't help but snicker.

Dear John was ok.. They completely changed it from the book though. I hate when they do that.

I really want to see Easy A. Good to know about Grown Ups. It looked like it'd be good for a rental. I want to see Hangover 2 bad. Those one liners you posted had me laughing and I didn't even have the context.

Those slip and slide photos definitely proved you are bikini ready. Work it girl!

I can't wait to have kids that I can take to the zoo. I love the zoo. Maybe I need to just borrow some little ones.

Easy A is one of the funniest movies that I've seen in a while. I still quote it because it's just hilarious! You're doing great on reaching all of your goals!

Good job on the book reading! I think I’ve only read four this year. I didn’t really love Grown Ups or Couples Retreat either. Easy A is awesome. I’ll watch it over and over again too. Someone told me about the time period for Remember Me, so I kind of saw the ending coming. I still thought it was a really good movie.

You are ROCKIN'!

I was confused when I got to the first zoo picture because I thought, "That's not your son! Who is that kid?" It all makes sense now.

And thanks for the warning about Remember Me. I still don't know if I'll see it, but if I do, it's good to know there's a shocking ending. Easy A was FANTASTIC. I knew you'd like it. Oh, and I think the only way I could get through Fast Five is with the sound off. Paul Walker and Vin Diesel are okay until they start talking.

I love that you judge bikini success by the amount of tears not shed. I do the same thing! I bought a bikini online and while I'm not where I want to be.. I tried it on and was like.. hey... not bad... no tears... keeper!

Two hours later I tried on wedding dresses and I purchased one... not bad in a days work for a girl who's not 100% happy w/ her body!

Great progress girl. I really need to go back to my 52 list and find out what I can and can't scratch off I forgot what all I committed to!
