10 Years Later

Ten years ago today, I was working at a tanning salon. A customer had been listening to Howard Stern in one of the tanning rooms. I could hear him talking about a plane crash. I turned Stern on in the lobby and listened as the second plane hit. Eyewitnesses were calling in. I could hear the fear and confusion in their voices. I remembered there was a tv in the office, so I put it on the front counter and watched as the first tower fell. The flames.. The smoke.. The papers flying.. The tears.. The suits covered in soot.. The screams.. The falling debris, which I later realized was people jumping to their death..

Just like each and every one of you, my life was changed that day. I'll never forget. God Bless our first responders and the families of those whose lives were lost on 9-11-01.

Lovely tribute girl. I watched the footage again this morning and cried as much as I did that morning - the fear is still there but thankfully we are a strong nation and all are pulling together. ox We are all changed because of it, for sure.

My respect for Firemen went up that day.

And it was already pretty high.

I can't imagine having to work. Didn't you want to just run home? Great post, as usual!

And yes, thank you to first responders (and to your husband), who put bravery before their lives. Heroes!!!

Many of our family and friends died that day - even if we didn't know them personally, they will never be forgotten!

It's such an obscure detail, but I remember being shocked by all the paper. So much paper housed in 220 floors worth of filing cabinets.
