2011 Ultimate Blog Party

It's that time of year again. 5 Minutes for Mom is having their Ultimate Blog Party. The UBP was created in 2007 as a blog party for moms. Almost 1000 bloggers joined in. And, the rest is history. If you want to meet fabulous bloggers like yourself, be sure to visit 5 Minutes for Mom and link up. All the cool kids are doing it. No, seriously, they are.

Ultimate Blog Party 2011

If you're here visiting from the UBP, let me introduce myself. My name is Misty, but my blog friends call me hotpants™. I'll be 32 in 8 days. {I still feel 18, in case you were wondering.} I work full time as a Mortgage Post Closer. I have a weekly feature called The Talk of Tinseltown which is chock-full of celebrity gossip. I'm also mildly obsessed with vampires and Britney Spears. I tell it like it is, speak fluent sarcasm and can teach you how to get a great spray tan. To sum things up... I'm awesomesauce. We should be friends.

My husband , The Hero, is a firefighter. He loves weight lifting, Florida State football and is totally Team Jacob. He may drive me batty when he plays Call of Duty for hours on the couch, but he's a good egg. I think I'll keep him.

My kids, Little Man and Little Bit, are 5 and 2. Little Man loves computer games, Power Rangers and aggravating his little sister. Little Bit loves Dora, purses and being sassy. Without these two, my life would be extremely boring.

Then there's my bestie, Terri from Peace, Love & Applesauce. She's crafty, a lover of shoes and gives the best Dancing with the Stars recaps. I anticipate her witty commentary, and I don't even watch the show!

I hope you'll take a look around.

And, if you think we can be friends,

I think you should read this first.

If all of these things aren't enough to keep you here,

maybe a Vera Bradley Giveaway will do the trick.

Stay tuned for one on Monday!

Hump Day Hottie; Ryan Reynolds

Our favorite day is here. Say it with me, now.

*HUMP DAY*

This week's Hump Day Hottie was voted on by YOU.

Ryan Reynolds won by a landslide. Oh, yes he did.

I enjoyed that. Didn't you?

Target Tuesday; Spring Love

Tara from Fabulous But Evil has an amazing weekly feature called Target Tuesday. On Tuesdays, you link up with things you're loving at Target. {Duh! Winning.} This is super easy for me since I'm there at least twice a week. In fact, I was there yesterday and dropped some money on dog treats, a detachable shower head and some spring clothes for the kids. Here are a few things I'm loving, but did not buy.

Mossimo Supply Co. Juniors Off the Shoulder Dress in Guava Berry

Merona® Emeline Braided Flat Sandals in Gold

DwellStudio® for Target® Kapali Comforter Set

If you'd like to link up, head on over to Tara's place.

This concludes this week's Target Tuesday.

Y'all come back now. Ya hear?

The Talk of Tinseltown; Elizabeth Taylor

Elizabeth Taylor 1932-2011

Some of my best leading men have been dogs and horses.

I have a woman's body and a child's emotions.

Big girls need big diamonds.

I've been through it all, baby, I'm Mother Courage.

I've only slept with men I've been married to.
How many women can make that claim?

My heart... my mind... are broken. I loved Michael with all my soul
and I can't imagine life without him. He will live in my heart
forever, but it's not enough. I don't think anyone
knew how much we loved each other.

You find out who your real friends are when you're involved in a scandal.

If someone's dumb enough to offer me a million dollars to make a picture,
I'm certainly not dumb enough to turn it down.

It is strange that the years teach us patience; that the shorter our time,
the greater our capacity for waiting.

I hope with all my heart that I have made a difference in the lives of
people with AIDS. I want THAT to be my legacy."

Down for the count

I got a ragin' stomach virus Tuesday night. I missed work yesterday and today. Now, Little Bit and The Hero have it. Little Man's hanging in there, but I'm sure he's next.

I'll see ya when I see ya.

Hump Day Hottie; Matthew McConaughey

Party people, it's time for this week's Hump Day Hottie.

If you love this feature, put your hands in the air

and say... YEAH!

This week's Hump Day Hottie is none other than

sexy shirtless man, Matthew McConaughey.

Or, as I like to call him,

Matthew McConaugh-heyyy-baby!

What do you think about this sexy southern hottie

with his purty smile and sparklin' blue eyes?

I put a poll in the sidebar. Be sure to vote for the hottie you'd like to see next week.

An Axe commercial reminded me of Heath Ledger

I've been seeing this Axe commercial a lot lately. Every time I see it, I think about one of my favorite movies ever, 10 Things I Hate About You. The song from this commercial, Sexy Boy by Air, plays in the film when the party flyers are dropped down the stairs at school. In the Axe commercial below, they've mixed the song with Mozart. I quite like it.

Anyway, I ended up watching a few of my favorite clips from 10 Things I Hate About You this weekend. It still breaks my heart every time I see Heath Ledger. I fell in love with him after seeing this movie. It's one I can watch over and over again.

RIP Heath

The Talk of Tinseltown; 213 Will Regulate

Sandra Bullock donated a million dollars to the Red Cross to support the relief efforts in Japan. If I was a millionaire, I'd gladly do the same.

Rapper Nate Dogg passed away at the age of 41. His death is attributed to complications from multiple strokes.

Ashley Greene is a single lady again. She recently split from that Joe Jonas kid. I'm in no place to judge, but I didn't think these two would last.

Ryan Phillippe's ex, Alexis Knapp, dropped a baby bomb on him. She recently announced she's pregnant with his baby. He says he had no idea. She says he knew and hoped the 'problem' would go away. She's lawyered up. He's awaiting a paternity test. USE CONDOMS, PEOPLE.

Mel Gibson recently plead no contest to misdemeanor battery and was sentenced to 36 months of probation, a 52-week domestic violence course, 16 hours of community service, and has to pay multiple fines. I just wish Mel Gibson hadn't let us all see his true colors. He was one of my favorites for many years. Now, I can't quite look at him the same.

Justin Bieber got his very own wax figure. I do realize this isn't that great of a news story, but I really wanted to share this creepy picture.

Billy Ray Cyrus has called off his divorce to Tish and plans to put his family back together. I think everyone in the Cyrus family needs to take a step away from the spotlight for this to work.

The Talk of Tinseltown was brought to you today by...

Warren G & Nate Dogg

Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen?

In case you haven't heard, the role of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games movie has gone to Jennifer Lawrence. I'm trying to respect the director's decision, but I just don't see it. Here's why.

She was just nominated for an Oscar for Winter's Bone, so I don't doubt she can take on the role. My problem is with the way she looks. You're telling me this curvaceous blonde bombshell is supposed to play a 16-year-old? She's only 20, but she looks 25. Besides, Katniss is described as having long, black hair and olive skin. She can dye her hair. She is small in stature and light for her age, being one of the smallest tributes in her games, but due to her outdoor life, she is strong for her size. This is where they lose me. This chick doesn't look small. Tough? Yes. Small? No. And again, she looks 25.

A fellow blogger and many fans on Twitter think she's perfect for the role after seeing her in Winter's Bone. I've already decided I'm going to watch it this weekend and report back. Will I eat my words after? We shall see.

So, Hunger Games fans, what do you think?

Irrational Fear #2; Bursting Into Flames

Remember this post where I talked about my irrational totally sensible fear of cruise ships? Well, I figured I'd share another one of my crazy fears.

CATCHING ON FIRE AT THE GAS PUMP

It happens people. You get out of your car, your clothes are charged up with static electricity and you damn near implode when you touch the gas pump. A couple of years ago, I saw several news stories over the course of a few weeks where people were either severely injured or died from this. Until then, the thought had never crossed my mind. No one warned me of the dangers.

The static electricity in your clothes and on your person can ignite when they meet gas fumes in the air. Experts suggest you touch a piece of metal, like your car, before grabbing the pump. I do this every single time I pump gas even it's 100 degrees outside, and I'm in my bikini. Because that's just how I roll. And, no matter how cold I am, I never get back in my car while the gas is still pumping. If you do, you're a big dummy with a love of pyrotechnics, burning flesh and death.

Had you heard this scary stuff before?

Do you touch a piece of metal before you pump gas?

Do you think I'm a crazy loon?

Awkward and Awesome Thursday #1

Today, I'm linking up with one of the best fashion bloggers around, Sydney from The Daybook. I'm envious of her wardrobe, her pictures and her all-around cuteness. She has a weekly feature called Awkward and Awesome Thursday. It's pretty self-explanatory. Here we go!

Awkward:
- When your coworker eats brussels sprouts and stinks up the office you share
- Accidentally putting your car into reverse instead of drive & almost backing into a parked car
- Standing next to a grown man in a store who reeks of BO
- Having to explain the word illegal to your 5-year-old

Awesome:
- Watching Peter Facinelli's movie, Accidentally in Love, starring his lovely wife Jennie Garth and loving it
- The hot mess that is The Celebrity Apprentice
- Google chatting with the bff all day, so I don't lose my mind at work
- Ordering one of Charlie Sheen's winning t-shirts

Hump Day Hottie; Chris Hemsworth

Sometimes, when I'm bored, blog ideas just come to me. Today, I'm going to share one of these ideas. I shall call it 'Hump Day Hottie'. On Wednesdays, I'll feature a fave celebrity hottie. It could be my fave hottie. It could be your fave hottie. It could be a hottie who's been in the news recently. You never know.

So, without further adieu, the first Hump Day Hottie is...

Chris Hemsworth from the upcoming movie Thor

I'm not a huge fan of facial hair, but on Chris...

Yes, please.

So, do you think Mr. Hemsworth is a hottie?

and

Who do you think should be featured next week?

The Hunger Games; Who Should Play Peeta?

After falling in love with The Hunger Games trilogy, I'm extremely interested to see who's chosen to play the leading roles in the films. So far, they're leaving me a little worried when it comes to the casting of the guys. Here are the fellas they're supposedly looking at to play Peeta Mellark. {I'm totally Team Peeta, by the way.}

Mitch Hewer from Skins

Alex Pettyfer from I Am Number Four

Chord Overstreet from Glee

Hunter Parrish from Weeds

You know how it is when you're reading a book. You picture the characters in your head. When you hear they're making the book into a movie, you can't get past the images of these people in your head no matter how hard you try.

I only see one Peeta in my mind, and it's Zach Roerig from The Vampire Diaries.

If they don't pick him, they should look for someone who looks just like him.

As far as the other guys listed above, I'm not digging any of them.

Who do you think should play Peeta Mellark?
