The other habit I’m trying to break is in direct relation to something I’ve been dealing with for the last six months. I’m officially an old lady who has to wear wrist braces for severe Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. It could be from typing and being on the computer all day at work. It could be from years of cheerleading and gymnastics. It could also be a direct result from another bad habit of mine. You see, I sleep on my side. When I sleep on my side, I often put my hand under my pillow. Apparently this is really bad for your wrists. I don’t discriminate either. I flip back and forth from my right side to my left side all night long.

Both of my wrists feel like they’re sprained. I also have shooting pains going up my arms halfway to my elbows. If you’ve ever had shin splints, that’s kind of what this feels like. My fingers and hands also get numb. I was able to deal with the pain for a while, but it recently started to get a lot worse. Some days it gets so bad I want to cry. I’ve also been dropping tons of things and having trouble turning door knobs. I'm currently wearing the braces in the evening while I watch tv and also wear them to bed. The braces prevent me from putting my hands under my pillow. Technically, I can still do it, but it’s extremely uncomfortable.
So, hopefully, I’ll soon be able to call these two bad habits a thing of the past. I’m also hoping my wrist pain starts to diminish.

Until then, just call me Grandma.

hope you can stay strong with your bad habit breaking!!
LOVE that nail polish you're wearing =)
Fake nails were the only thing that could prevent me from biting my nails, thats why I've had gel nails for 13 yrs! You're a better woman than me for quitting on your own.,,keep it up!! :)
Aww, I'm sad for your wrists. I have it from sitting at a computer all day too.. hope you can get some perm relief! Good work w the nails. :)
Good luck with the nail biting break. My boys do it, and I HATE it. I never did. LOL! Now, the wrist...CRAP! I had no idea that putting your hand under the pillow was bad for your wrists. Mine started acting like carpal tunnel with my 2nd pregnancy. It's been better since then, but darn...Oh well, guess I better quit now.
I was able to stop biting my nails when I got pregnant with Bri. I was always so afraid that it'd hurt her.. haha!! Weird first mom thinking. LMAO!
Well, at least your nails look pretty while you are wearing the splints. :-)
I LOVE your nail color!
Stopping biting nails has to be really really hard. My 5 year old niece has done it since...well, forever, and I see it being a problem when she stops, or tries to anyway.
Um, I sleep with my hands under my pillow. And every night I wake up with NUMB fingers and hands. Like NUMB NUMB. Is that carpel tunnel??? NO!!! Is it? Tell me. Now.
Hi, I'm Shannon. I'm 29 and I'm a fellow nail chewer! I am like you and trying to stop and then I go and watch a University of Memphis game and there all my nails go. Ok, I'm off to go paint my nails. I am determined to stop too. =)
Ugh biting nails are so hard to stop doing. I have been doing it for years and just cant seem to get myself out of the habit.
Good Luck!
Oh man, that sucks about your carpal tunnel. My mom had to get surgery. She said it was amazing though, so if you have to go that route just know that it’s not that bad and helps tremendously. I sleep with my hands under my pillow too and wake up with numb fingers in the middle of the night! Good job not biting your nails! I bit mine as a kid, but stopped somewhere around 15.
Don't feel old; I have had to deal with carpul tunnel and I'm not even thirty yet! Those darn computers! Plus I'm a side sleeper too. Have the hero give you wrist massages. They really helped me, especially if you massage the forearms. Hope you feel better soon. I know how incredibly painful it is.
Good luck with the nails. You know putting a bunch of lotion on my nails cured me. The bitter taste was a deterrent.
I used to bite my nails when I was a kid, but my aunt made one comment that broke me of the habit instantly and I never went back. For the life of me I can't remember what she said, but I stopped doing it.
