One lonely Beastie I be

Your pop caught you smoking and he said, "No way!"
That hypocrite smokes two packs a day
Man, living at home is such a drag
Now your mom threw away your best porno mag
You gotta fight
For your right
To party

-Fight For Your Right

Now here's a little story I got to tell
About three bad brothers you know so well
It started way back in history
With Ad-Rock, MCA, and me, Mike D

-Paul Revere

Got this dance that's more than real
Drink Brass Monkey, here's how you feel
Put your left leg down, your right leg up
Tilt your head back, let's finish the cup
MCA with the bottle, D rocks the can
Ad-Rock gets nice with Charlie Chan

-Brass Monkey

Back in the day
There was this girl around the way
She liked my home-piece MCA
He said he would not give her play
I asked him, "Please?" He said, "You may."
Her pants were tight and that's ok
If she would dance, I would D.J.
We took a walk down to the bay

Let it flow like a mud slide
When I get on, I like to ride and glide
I've got depth of perception in my text y'all
I get props at my mention 'cause I vex y'all
So what'cha what'cha what'cha want, what'cha want
I get so funny with the money that you flaunt
I said where'd you get your information from, huh?
You think that you can front when revelation comes

-So What'cha Want

I see you're still strong after all that's gone on
Lifelong we dedicate this song
Just a little something to show some respect
To the city that blends and mends and tests
Since 9-11, we're still livin'
And lovin' life we've been given
Ain't nothing gonna take that away from us
We're lookin' pretty and gritty 'cause in the city we trust
Dear New York, I know a lot has changed
Two towers down, but you're still in the game
Home to the many, rejecting no one
Accepting peoples of all places, wherever they're from

-An Open Letter To NYC

It's too difficult to put into words how amazing The Beastie Boys are.
Their music is a large part of my life's soundtrack.
I can remember a time when I was dancing to Brass Monkey while drinking Brass Monkey.
Those were the days...

A part of my youth has died.

Oh how I feel your pain. I remember many a late night driving around with my friends singing at the top of our lungs. So sad.
(And yes, I SANG every paragraph of your post as I read along.)
: )

The hubs and I were totally devastated. As a tribute we listened to the Beastie Boys all weekend. Our kids were totally confused.

I can't explain how deeply I felt this loss. The Beastie boys have been a staple in my music libraries for pretty much my entire life.
