InstaFish

Last year for Little Man's birthday, we bought a ten gallon aquarium and some goldfish. We mistakenly thought goldfish would be easy to take care of. On one hand they're low maintenance, but they're also dirty little buggers. They're rather boring too. No one ever even looked at the tank. It was a total waste of money. After all the poor fishies died, I decided to do some research on Betta fish.

After reading numerous articles and message board posts, I decided that these were the fish for us. Not only are they fairly easy to take care of, they actually have personalities and respond to their owners. We went to PetSmart to pick out two fish, one for Little Bit and one for Little Man. We ended up coming home with three because I saw one I just had to have. {story of my life}

First up, we have the kid's Betta fish. They're both male even though one of them is living like a princess. Little Bit named her fish Marina after a character on The Fresh Beat Band. He lives on the right side of our ten gallon tank amid pink and red decorations. On the left side, we have Little Man's betta. His name is Ghost Roaster. They are separated by a mesh divider because male bettas do not get along.

My betta lives in a smaller tank on a dresser in my bedroom. His name is Bruce Wayne.

Now that I'm armed with all the betta knowledge I could find, I think these fish will live long and happy lives.

Who knew fish could be so much fun? We love these little guys!

Today, I'm linking up with Life Rearranged for Insta-Friday.

I am so relieved to know other people feel the same way about their Betta's! We love ours. Rhett always says he's like a dog, which makes me laugh, but seriously, he trys to interact with us, it's so funny.

Fish gross me out. Which is weird, but there ya go. Betas are DEFINITELY fun to watch though! My coworker had one at her desk and she put a mirror in the tank. It was hilarious to see it get pissed off at itself!

My daughter has one on a tank that hangs on her wall. That way I don't have to worry about it getting knocked off a desk or shelf. They are waaaayyy easy to take care of.

Fun! I love the names and I totally agree with you about boring goldfish. I'm sure you took great care of them, but I'm still surprised they lasted as long as they did.

What a great idea for a pet. I'd like to get another pet, these may be my answer. Thanks for posting.

I never knew Betta's could be so fun! How clean are they ... how often do you have to change the water? I could totally google this, but figured the honest answers would come from you! ;o)

Fish can bring you a lot of enjoyment and it is relaxing to sit there and just watch them for a while. Somewhere I read that watching fish can lower your blood pressure.

My parents had a beta fish that lived for a really long time. They're fun to watch! Now do the two males separated ever fight when they look at each other? That's pretty cool to see, when they puff up all big.
It's a running joke that I'm a fish killer because I've bought 3 betas and I've killed every one of them!

Obviously, I LOVE your betta's name!

They are beautiful fish. I had a roommate that had one. It committed suicide, which was very sad but also a little bit funny in a very tragically comic way.
