Mani Monday; Dream On

Today, I'm linking up with two blogs I discovered over the weekend. The lovely ladies from Glitter and Gloss and Just Love.ly Things have started Mani Monday for those of us who love prettying up our nails.

As you may recall, I've finally kicked the nasty habit of biting my nails. If you'd seen my nails a week ago, they had gotten quite long. I ended up trimming them down after several broke. I'll be trying a few products out over the next couple of weeks to get them healthy and strong. If you have any tips and/or recommendations, be sure to let me know.

Today, they're painted a bright pinkish-purple. Even with expensive Essie polish, my nails take a beating and need to be painted every two or three days. I don't mind though. I'm having a lot of fun changing them up. When they grow out a little more, I'll be sure to share some of the fun things I've been doing with them. Today, I'm boring. There's no glitter, dots or stripes. I hope you'll check out Mani Monday. There's a ton of great tips, colors and ideas if you're tired of your standard solid nail polish.

2012 White House Correspondents' Dinner Fashion

Eva Longoria
I don't love the dress, but I don't hate it either.
I think the black pumps ruin it for me.

Malin Akerman
The bust, slit and length are all weird.
Again with the shoes... No.

Zooey Deschanel
The top of the dress doesn't fit.
It's also too long.
I adore Zooey though.

Kate Upton
This looks like a fancy bathrobe.

Rachel Zoe
Rachel dresses other people so well.
Why does she always look like a grandmother?

Sofia Vergara
The dress is cute, but not my favorite on Sofia.

Reese Witherspoon
I like the cut of the dress.
The look comes together nicely with the hair and earrings.
Fab!

Charlize Theron
I don't love the dress, but she looks stunning nonetheless.
Maybe if her hair were down...

Lindsay Lohan
I didn't love the amount of cleavage she showed, but overall Lindsay looks great.
I love her hair this color.

Elizabeth Banks
This color looks great on Elizabeth.

Kerry Washington
I dig the color, but the dress is a tad boring.

Rosario Dawson
The dress is ill-fitting.
I also think she should put the girls away when hanging with POTUS.

Kris Jenner & Kim Kardashian
They look like they're dressed for a holiday party.

Alicia Keys & Swizz Beatz
Alicia looks extremely under dressed.

Anna Paquin & Stephen Moyer
They look lovely.

Snow White & Prince Charming Ginnifer Goodwin & Josh Dallas
I didn't realize these two were dating until today. Love.
The dress isn't my style, but they certainly look smashing.
I also love that Ginnifer can rock the hell out of short hair.

*I'd like to give a shout out to Gin because she's from my hometown.
Memphis in the hizzy!*

First Lady Michelle Obama
I love that we have a fierce First Lady.
Love this print and color combo on Michelle.

Josh Hutcherson
My my my, Peeta cleans up nicely.
Rawr.

POTUS
Barack always looks dapper in a tux.

Claire Danes
Claire usually looks great.
This dress is not cute at all.

Dakota Fanning
The dress is pretty, but it ages her tremendously.
And what I can see of the shoes, I do not like.

Kate Hudson
I don't really love sequins, but the fit is great.

Leslie Mann
I don't typically like floral prints, but this really works.
I love it!

Happy Anniversary, William & Catherine!

It's been one year since Kate Middleton married her prince. I haven't really kept up with what William and Catherine have been doing, but I have been keeping up with her wardrobe. I have an entire board dedicated to her amazing style on Pinterest. I thought I'd celebrate their anniversary with some images from their fairy tale wedding as well as a few of my favorite shots of them from the past year.

These two are so cute. I just love them.

Celebrity Quotes; Jenny McCarthy

Jenny McCarthy recently sat down with Parade magazine. She told the mag she has a six month rule when it comes to dating. In the ten years since her divorce, her son has only met two men. "I don't introduce my son to anybody unless someone makes it six months."

I think this is a great rule to have, especially if you know a relationship isn't going anywhere.

Kids don't need to meet booty calls or flings.

They need to meet the real men who are going to stay and be in it for the long haul.

What I Wore Wednesday; Elevator Fashion

Lately, I've been taking iPhone pics of my outfits in the elevator of my office building. I usually take them after lunch which is why you'll see me with sunglasses on my head and a drink in my hand.

Things I feel I should point out...
1. The elevator mirror apparently makes my boobs look bigger than they really are.
2. I really should start doing something different with my hair.
3. I need to change my purse out more.
4. I have a slight addiction to sweet tea from Sonic.

So, are my elevator pics totally awesome or totally lame?

A to Z of hotpants™

I've seen this floating around blogland for a while. I thought it was finally time to fill it out since I've gotten some new readers. Here are some things you may not know about me.

A. Age: 33

B. Bed size: It's a queen. We really need a bigger bed.

C. Chore you dislike: I hate doing laundry. I'd rather clean the dirtiest toilets a million times over than separate, wash, dry, fold, hang, and put away laundry.

D. Dogs: We have a 15-month-old black Labrador Retriever named Carly.

E. Essential start to your day: I can't get my day started unless I hit snooze at least 3 times. Also, now that I have a Keurig, I start every day with a cup of Gloria Jean's Cappuccino.

F. Favorite color: In general, I love blue.

G. Gold or silver: I love both, but prefer silver.

H. Height: 5'5"

I. Instruments you play(ed): none

J. Job title: I work in the post closing department of a mortgage company.

K. Kids: Little Man is 6. Little Bit is 3.

L. Live: Memphis, Tennessee

M. Mom’s name: Lisa

N. Nicknames: Growing up, I was Boomer, Mistro and Musty. {Musty is a play on my real name which is Misty. It's not because I smell old.} People think they're real clever with that one. These days, I'm known as Bruce because I love Bruce Wayne and Batman.

O. Overnight hospital stays: Other than childbirth, I don't think I've had to stay overnight.

P. Pet peeves: bad grammar, people who can't spell & guys with long fingernails

Q. Quote from a movie: "Good. Great. Grand. Wonderful. NO YELLING ON THE BUS!"

R. Righty or lefty: righty

S. Siblings: I'm an only child.

T. Time you wake up: The alarm is set for 6:30. I should really set it for 6:00 because I'm always running late. Mama likes her sleep.

U. Underwear: I don't discriminate. I have thongs, bikinis and boy shorts.

V. Vegetables you don't like: all of them

W. What makes you run late: the snooze button, the lazies & my kids

X. X-rays you’ve had: teeth, lower back, right thumb twice, & both ankles numerous times

Y. Yummy food you make: I don't really make anything. I warm up pre-cooked food in the oven and take it out. No one's gotten sick yet.

Z. Zoo animal favorites: tigers & giraffes

2012 Project 52; I met a blogger!

There were a few items on last year's Project 52 list that made it onto this year's list because I was determined to accomplish them. Number fifty-one on this year's list was to meet a blog friend. Ladies and gentleman, this finally happened last week. The lovely Christina from Christina's Pop Life came through Memphis on a crazy, whirlwind trip with her sister and childhood friend. While in Memphis, before hitting up Graceland and Beale Street, Christina met Terri and I for lunch at Memphis' best burger joint, Huey's. I was super excited to meet Christina because she is one of my favorite bloggers. {I'm not just saying this because she'll be reading either.}

Christina and I have so much in common. She's a wife and mother of two. She loves celebrities and pop culture. To be more specific, she loves Britney Spears, vampires and Elvis. You can see why we'd be friends, right? We also watch all of the same tv shows. Seriously, she's awesome. If you aren't reading her blog, you're missing out. We've gotten to know each other pretty well through blogging, so when she mentioned a trip to Memphis I knew I had to meet her. Terri and Christina also read each other's blogs, so it was perfect that the three of us could sit down together. We talked about the lovely spring weather, air conditioning, how some parts of Memphis are really ghetto and others are not, boyfriends, husbands, kids, sports, and food. Christina is a total sweetheart. Hopefully Terri and I didn't seem too crazy. You get the two of us together talking and, well, it can probably be a little... IN YO FACE! I mean that in the sincerest way because we are really freaking awesome. We had a great time meeting Christina. The conversation was easy and fun. It was like we were chatting with an old friend. I hereby declare this blog meetup 100% successful!

51. Meet 1 blog friend.
