Goodbye, 2012.

I'm not big on year end recaps. If you read my blog, you know what I've been up to. You don't really want to read it all over again, do you? However, this post from Glossy Blonde inspired me to put something together that's short and sweet.

Favorite Book, Album, TV Show, & Movie of 2012
It's always hard for me to choose only one of something, but I'm going to do it.

The Dark Knight Rises
Well, duh. Obviously, I love Christopher Nolan and all of his Batman films. This one, the last of three, was by far the best movie of 2012. It's definitely the one I was most anticipating. It didn't let me down. I was on the edge of my seat from the moment it started until the very end. I hope they continue the story in some way in the future. If not, I'll just watch the three I have over and over again. Long live the Caped Crusader!

I've Got Your Number, Sophie Kinsella
This isn't the best book I've ever read. It's not deep or heartfelt. It's not even a compelling page-turner. It's simply a funny, light read that had me in tears from laughing so hard. I actually snorted out loud several times. Sometimes, you just need a good fluff book to brighten your days, and this one did just that. I loved it so much.

Barton Hollow, The Civil Wars
The Civil Wars had a song, Kingdom Come, on The Hunger Games soundtrack. I instantly fell in love and downloaded Barton Hollow soon after. I've been listening to this album on repeat since March. Every song is beautiful.

Homeland
Showtime's Homeland, starring Claire Danes and Damien Lewis, is my favorite tv show for the second year in a row. The actors and storylines had me sweating bullets every Sunday night. Until September when it starts again...

Biggest Accomplishment of 2012

After my car crapped out on me, I got a new ride. It was nice not having a car note for several years, but my biggest accomplishment in 2012 has been paying for Jane.

Looking Forward To Most in 2013

You all know I love Kid Rock, right? Well, his Rebel Soul tour is kicking off soon. The bestie and I are taking a road trip to Knoxville to see him in February. She doesn't love him as much as I do, but she does love me. We are both super excited for this trip. It's going to be a blast!

Wishing you all the very best in the new year...

My Wonderfully Lazy Christmas

Another Christmas has come and gone. I was off work from Friday until today. Unfortunately, I spent the first three days of my break sick and in bed. I don't know what I had, but the fever nearly killed me. I got some much needed sleep, caught up on a DVR full of shows and eventually made it out of the house to finish some last minute shopping. Someone should seriously remind me not to wait so long next year.

If you asked my kids about Christmas, they'd probably say... IT WAS THE BEST CHRISTMAS EVER! Santa brought them iPods. Mr. Claus knew I was tired of them fighting over my phone. Now, they can play games on their own devices. Oh, and the 7-year-old has learned to text. It's seriously too much for my mom brain to handle.

I racked up this year. The Hero got me a coat and puffer vest. I also got a purse, makeup, perfume, The Dark Knight Rises on Blu-ray, and numerous gift certificates. But my most favorite gifts of all... my Kid Rock Made In Detroit tee, cup and mug from my mom. After posting the pic on Twitter, I got a retweet from the company Christmas morning. Holla!

I hope each and every one of you had a lovely, fun-filled holiday.

I'm taking my annual blogging break, so I'll see you in 2013!

Silence and Support for Sandy Hook

"Because while nothing can fill the space of a lost child or loved one, all of us can extend a hand to those in
need to remind them that we are there for them, that we are praying for them, that the love
they felt for those they lost endures not just in their memories, but also in ours.

May God bless the memory of the victims and, in the words of Scripture, heal the
brokenhearted and bind up their wounds." -- President Barack Obama

Hey! Wait! I've got a new complaint!

I haven't linked up with MamaKat in forever, but one of this week's prompts inspired me. What is a trend I can't stand? Hi, my name is Misty. I like to break rules, so instead of one trend I can't stand, I'm sharing three. I apologize in advance because many of you love these things. We can still be friends, but I won't be jumping on the bandwagon anytime soon ever.

monograms
Apparently this girl is going against her Southern heritage by not loving monograms, but I haven't a care in the world. Dare to be different, I say! If you know me well, you already know my initials. If you don't know me, do you really care about the 3-letter necklace I'm rocking? Or do you spend the afternoon hours wondering if MCM is Mary Margaret Cooper, Mindy Moonrise Chalk or could it be... Melanie Mayonnaise Chesterfield?! Know what I mean, Vern?

mustaches
There's mustache birthday parties, mustache sunglasses, mustache holiday cards, and even fingerstache tattoos. Why are mustaches everywhere these days? I just don't get it.

Real Housewives
I don't watch a lot of reality tv. If Simon Cowell, Julie Chen and the Robertson boys aren't involved, I'm not watching. I keep up with celebrity news, so I know enough about these shows to know I don't want to watch. And besides, if you've seen one, haven't you seen them all?

These boots are made for talking.

One of my favorite things about the fall and winter months is the wardrobe options. I love me some cozy sweaters, skinny jeans and boots, boots, boots! Since I sold all of my boots from last year, I decided to do a little shopping. I couldn't find any I liked in my local stores, so I searched online. The only problem with ordering boots from the interweb is not knowing if they'll fit. I'm a true 6.5, but I have skinny legs and small calves. I can't stand wearing boots with a huge gap because they aren't fitted enough. So, I did what any smart girl would do, I ordered five or six pairs until I got what I wanted. I was only planning on keeping two, but the third pair was just too perfect to return. Plus, I got all three pairs for under $100! {scoring deals like a boss}

So, do you likey my new boots?

Check My Style

I didn't intend to take a week off from blogging, but I had a good reason. Once again, girlfriend got a new blog design. I change the look of my blog almost as much as I change my hair. Like tattoos, it's become an addiction. This time around I worked with Nicole from Living with Fletch.

When I first started talking to Nicole, I didn't know what I wanted. I had my color scheme picked out and a general idea of the layout, but everything else was a mystery. She was able to come up with a super cute and clean design I love, love, love. If you're in the market for a blog designer, Nicole is your girl. She's super talented and incredibly patient.

If you'd like to sponsor my super cute, super fabulous blog in December, there are some spots still available. I also have spots available for ad swaps.

Last but not least, I want to thank all of my followers, old and new.

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. Y'all are the best!
