AFI's Top 100 Movies

I have an "unofficial" bucket list. It's "unofficial" because it's constantly evolving and resides only in my head. One item on my unofficial bucket list is to see all 100 movies on AFI's list of the 100 Greatest American Movies of All Time. The list was created in 1998 and updated in 2007. There were a few additions in 2007, which means a few movies had to be removed. Two of the movies removed are two of my absolute favorites, Rebel Without a Cause and Dances with Wolves. I don't care how many new movies come out. You don't take Dean and Costner off the list.

The complete list is below. The movies I've seen are marked through. Trust me, there will be some surprises. There are some I've never seen from start to finish, so until this happens, I'm not crossing them off. Like It's a Wonderful Life and Jaws... No, I have never seen It's A Wonderful Life all the way through. I know. As a Christmas loving American, I should be ashamed of myself.

Some of the movies I've crossed off will be watched again, either because I don't remember much about them or because I love them. I know some of these will be great. Others I may not like at all. I plan on living a long time, so I'm in no hurry to get through the list. This should be fun!

What have you seen? What do you still want to see?

Misty, you need to get movie-watching ASAP, I cannot BELIEVE some of the movies you haven't seen???!!! What have you been doing girl?! ;)

How you have escaped "Singin' in the Rain" & "The Sound of Music", I do not know, those movies seemed to be on TV every week when I grew up, think yourself lucky!! Actually, I love "SITR".

Gone With The Wind, Sophie's Choice, The Graduate, Some Like It Hot, High Noon, West Side Story, Spartacus....all brilliant films.

Not sure how they compile these lists, the longer you look at the list, you think of films that haven't been included. I love "Toy Story" but am surprised to see it on the list.

Am surprised you haven't seen "Goodfellas" & "The Shawshank Redemption" :)

Okay, I will stop now ;) No idea how many I've seen, might have to check :)

Oh man, you haven't seen a lot of the really good old ones yet! I've seen 31--at the tender age of 21, I think that's not too shabby. I know I'll never see all of them, though. Silence of the Lambs is on there and I don't have the stomach for scary/gross type of movies. I actually haven't seen Jaws all the way through either. I still feel like all those people are getting eaten by the shark since I never finished the movie. I should get on that.

I think I've seen most of them. There are a few I think are overrated, such as Dr. Strangelove, or 2001. I also fell asleep watching Citizen Kane. Thought it was terribly boring.

You're doing much better than me! I've seen, ummmm, 4? Yeah. So. Needless to say I'm not much of a movie person.

I remember when the list came out originally, I made it my goal to see all 100 movies... I've seen 33/100. I'd still love to try and get all these movies seen.

Schindlers List, Shawshank Redemption and Raiders of the Lost Ark are MUST sees. Obviously, or they wouldn't be on the list. But Shawshank is one of my all time favs.
