With casting news heating up, I thought we could discuss some of the names that have been thrown around to play Christian. When I first started reading, I pictured Josh Duhamel. Now that I've really had a chance to think about it, I don't picture him anymore. There are so many hot actors that could play Christian. I think I could get on board with any one of these choices.
Rumor has it, E L James wants Ryan Gosling to play Christian. I could absolutely see it, but do we really want to taint the guy we know and love from The Notebook with whips and butt plugs? I have a feeling he wouldn't do it anyway. Or would he?
Then we have Ian Somerhalder who plays Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries. He has said he wants the part. Once I heard this, I jumped on the Ian as Christian bandwagon. I love him on TVD and think he's incredibly sexy and plays a great bad boy.
Up next, we have one of my personal favorites. Even though
Then there's a hottie we all know and love from True Blood. Why didn't I think of him on my own? Physically, Alexander Skarsgard is a perfect fit. I can see him with those blue jeans hanging unbuttoned off his hips. If you are familiar with his vampire character on True Blood, I know you can see it too.
Chris Pine from Star Trek has reportedly asked to see a script. He's definitely hot, but I haven't seen enough of him as an actor to know if he can pull it off.
The internet is abuzz with love for Matt Bomer. You might know him from the tv show White Collar or his supporting role in Magic Mike. He's hot and looks great shirtless and in a suit. Maybe...
Last but not least, we have a guy who is said to be the current front runner. You all know Chris Hemsworth, right? He's extremely good looking. He can act. I just need to get past him as Thor before I can see it.

Oh, please not Gosling! I know sometimes actors like to spice things up but I don't want my Notebook guy to be the S&M guy, haha. I think Ian Somerhalder would be my personal choice, but there are several good options.
Yeah, I love Ryan Gosling, but just not in this role. I share your love of Christian Bale so that's a great option! =)

Oh my goodness, all these men *DROOOOL*. I would love all these guys as a serious option other than Ryan Gosling and Christian Bale. Definitely in my spank bank, but they arent Christian Gray.
Please God, Matt Bomer. He is just ridiculously pretty. Altho I can get behind Ian or Chris too. They all would bring something interesting to the character I think.
I just want to know how they are going to pull off all the sex from the book in a movie without it getting and NC-17 rating.

All of these men are amazingly attractive. And I know nothing about the books but I'll be honest sexy movie w/ any of them would probably be a block buster, especially to women who read the books.
What about Stephen Amell from the new show Arrow. I've heard people talk about him for the role as well. He's a bit dark and mysterious to me, but maybe that's just his character as Oliver Queen.
It definitely didn't hurt to read this post early this AM!!! I think my number one vote would be Ian followed closely by Chris! He's so hot in Thor!!

Matt Bomer all the way!! The guy can wear a suit like no other. He's got swag and is a gentleman, but I can totally see him whipping a riding crop!!!
Ooh Christian Bale could totally pull of Grey, but I definitely picture Ian Somerhalder. He's the right age and he's not as big a name as Christian, so he seems like he'd be more willing.
Ugh I'm sorry, Ryan Gosling has too weak of a voice. You can't be sexy enough and scary enough with that high pitched voice of his. Plus you're right, he's too sweet.
I just wonder how they're going to do a movie of this series without it being x-rated. And I hope to god they change the dialogue!! Anna and her Oh Mys. I wonder who will play Anna?
I feel the same way as you-the books were poorly written but they had entertainment value. I'm just glad I didn't pay for them and checked them out at the library instead!

Ian Somerhalder is just so pretty! There are actually so many guys that could play him but maybe an unknown would be good too? ...someone we don't associate with any other role?
Matt Bomer is yummy though he's gay in real life (so says his Wikipedia info) so I'll have a hard time believing him as Christian Gray?
