Rescue Ranger

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you may have noticed our family has a new addition. Some of my friends had been sharing pictures of dogs and cats from the local shelter on Facebook. Due to overcrowding, there were four dogs scheduled to be put down in a matter of days. One of the dogs stood out to me, but I told myself we didn't need another dog. We already have a 2-year-old black Lab. A week went by, and I saw that two of the dogs still needed homes. I showed Tony the pictures, and he said we could go to the shelter and look at the doggie with the serious face. I wanted the dog before we even got there. I wanted the dog even more when he was looking at us from inside his kennel. When they got him out, I knew he was ours.

Everybody meet Ranger. He's a Pit Bull-Boxer Mix. He's believed to be a year old and weighs almost sixty pounds. He is the sweetest dog. He's great on a leash, has yet to have an accident in the house and loves us like he's been here his whole life. Now, if only we could get Carly the Lab to think he's as great as we all do. She's a little pissed right now, but it'll get easier.

Seriously, y'all... This face has changed our lives.

And I know we changed his too. ♥

He is beautiful! So nice that you brought him into your family. I have to keep myself from looking at those shelter pics/sites...I joke that I could easily end up "the old crazy dog lady" - I would want to bring them all home.

Ranger is SO handsome. I hope that your Lab will take to him quickly, it might take a bit but eventually I bet they will be the best of friends. I love pitts, LOVE them. I hate that they get such a bad rap. And it's a miracle that he stayed alive as long as he did. Most shelters have a kill order for pitts and it breaks my heart especially when they are loving and caring dogs when raised properly.

Congrats on the new addition I can't wait to hear more about him, and Carly.

PS Is she named after iCarly?

Aw.. look at that face. Carly will come around. She's just playing hard to get right now b/c you know she'll fall for him.

And I second Kelly's thoughts. Pits can make great pets if raised right. They get such a bad rap b/c of ignorant owners.
