Celeb Fashion Round-up
Week of June 24, 2013

Thakoon peplum dress, orange clutch & black pointy-toe pumps worn to the Lone Ranger premiere
This mostly works. I love the pops of color, but wish she were wearing a belt instead of peplum.

head-to-toe Dior at the LA Dance Project Benefit Gala
I don't mind the colors, but the fit and length aren't very flattering.

at the Giorgio Armani menswear presentation wearing the brand’s top, black pants & tasseled heels
I love her hair and makeup, but the outfit is a total miss for me.

in Carolina Herrera at a Carolina Herrera event
This is really pretty and feminine. The coral peep-toe pumps really set it off.

beaded Naeem Khan fringe dress with bangles, layered necklaces, & black pointy-toe pumps
It's not my favorite and doesn't seem very SJP, but she still looks great.

periwinkle suit & orange clutch, both by Rebecca Minkoff, with Chelsea Paris heels
This looks like something my grandmother would wear.

blue Preen dress with yellow heels at the Bulgari boutique opening in Shanghai
Jessica always looks great in blue, but I'm not loving the A-line skirt or heels.

Alexander McQueen dress with a waist-cinching belt & tie-up heels
I think I'd like it better without the belt and with different heels.

strapless LBD & black accessories
It's chic and simple. I like it.

in Christian Dior at the White House Down premiere in NYC
The chest is weird, the length is weird and there's just too much going on.

Camilla Belle is definitely my favorite this week.

Dexter Morgan, the end is near.

Tony and I started watching Dexter in marathon sessions several years ago. We didn't start watching live until the fourth season. This is the season with the Trinity Killer, which is by far my favorite. When I started, I didn't really know what I was in for. I had no idea I'd fall in love with a serial killer. Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter and the rest of the cast are brilliant. There are a lot of suspenseful shows out there, but none have made me more nervous than Dexter. I have nearly peed my pants and chewed my nails off. I yell at the tv like Dexter can actually hear me. I have gotten so invested in this show. Sadly, all good things must come to an end. The final season starts on Sunday. Will he get caught? Will someone kill him? Will he kill himself? Soon enough, the answers will be revealed. I can't wait!

Who will be watching with me?

The Birth of a Royal

When Catherine and William welcome their first child, whose due date is July 11, they will announce the birth in a very unique way. A framed announcement will be placed on a gold and wood easel just beyond the gates at Buckingham Palace shortly after the baby arrives. {This is the same easel used to announce William's birth in 1982.} The declaration will be printed, signed by medical staff at St. Mary's Hospital and transported by a police escort. It will include the baby's gender, time of birth and weight. The name, however, will be released at a later date. Even though this method of announcement may be considered old fashioned by some, I personally love it. How exciting!

Movies with Hot, Talented Guys

I'm on a roll with watching movies in the theater this year. I have seen nine so far. I've now added Fast 6, Man of Steel, World War Z, and The Internship to the list. All of these movies have a similar theme -- hot, talented guys!

I've been hooked on the Fast & Furious series since the first movie came out. This is also when my love affair with Vin Diesel aka Dominic Toretto started. Paul Walker lovers needn't get their panties in a bunch. I wouldn't kick him out of bed either. This franchise has all the things I love about movies -- fast cars, hot guys, fist fights, car chases, kick ass females, and explosions. The series started in 2001, slumped in 2006 and was revamped in 2009. How and why do they keep making them? They simply give the fans what they want. They brought Vin Diesel back. They added The Rock. And when Fast 7 comes out next year, it'll have the one and only Jason Statham. I've always said they could make a hundred of these. I'll be first in line every time. If you like the others, you'll undoubtedly love this one too.

Once again, in case you're unaware, I am a total dude when it comes to movies. As a Smallville and super hero fan, I went into the theater with high expectations. My Facebook and Twitter feeds were full of people who loved the movie and just as many who hated it. I definitely had some issues with the story, but overall I was extremely pleased. My main issues center around Amy Adams as Lois Lane. I think she's a great actress, but I just don't think she fits the character mold. I also don't like how quickly she becomes acquainted with Clark. Aside from that, I think the film paints a great picture for old and new fans alike. Also, Henry Cavill was an excellent choice to play Superman. I will now see everything he's in. His face.. His lips.. His jaw.. His body.. HOT!

I wanted to see World War Z for one reason and one reason only. This reason is Brad Pitt. Brad plays a United Nations employee who races around the world to stop a zombie pandemic. This one's good, not great. I was definitely entertained, but waited through a lot of action to be left with a simple ending. I wanted a little bit more.

Last but not least, we've got The Internship. I love Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn together, but this is no Wedding Crashers. I've gone back and forth with this one. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd probably give it a 6.5. The movie starts off with the two singing Alanis Morissette loudly in a convertible. This scene gave me really high hopes because it's hilarious. I did end up laughing out loud numerous times throughout the movie. There were scenes and characters that were really annoying though. If you love Owen and Vince, it's worth a watch, but I'd Redbox it.

The Talk of Tinseltown
Don't Stop Believin'

Rachel Zoe is expecting her second child. She already has a 2-year-old son with husband Rodger Berman.

Basketball great Scottie Pippen is a suspect in a felony assault with a deadly weapon investigation. The deadly weapon being his shoes after he reportedly punched and kicked a man outside a Malibu restaurant. The man has since been released from the hospital, but is suffering from multiple injuries. Pippen's attorney currently has no comment.

As most of you know by now, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have named their daughter North West. There is no middle name for her to go by. It's just North West. The pair plans to call her Nori because that's so much better.

Paula Deen has been fired from The Food Network after admitting she used the N-word on numerous occasions. A lot of people think she shouldn't have been fired. There's freedom of speech and then there's being a dumb ass. Saying it in front of a room full of African-Americans at a wedding, well, one should just know better. Duh.

James Gandolfini, the actor who played mob boss Tony Soprano, died after suffering a heart attack this past Wednesday. He was 51. HBO released a statement saying, "He was a special man, a great talent, but more importantly a gentle and loving person who treated everyone no matter their title or position with equal respect."

RIP Mr. Gandolfini

GoodNites Disposable Bed Mats

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and GoodNites, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #BetterNights http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO

My daughter still wets the bed from time to time. If she doesn't go to the bathroom right before bed, there's a chance she'll have an accident. And, on occasion, she wets the bed even if she does potty right before she goes down. The bed wetting incidents are happening less and less, but are still frustrating. I have to immediately rip her sheets off the bed and wash the bedding as well as her nighttime clothes. And boy do I hate laundry!

I was recently contacted by Pollinate Media to try and review GoodNites Bed Mats from Target. I didn't even know there was such a thing. I picked up some of the mats over the weekend. A package of 9 retails for $9.49 at Target. The mat measures 2.9 ' W x 2.6 ' L. It's large enough that a child shouldn't miss the mat even if they move around a lot in bed. The backside of the mat has adhesive backing on all four corners, so you can secure it in place. It's thin, but absorbent and made out of a soft and quiet material. We used the mat last night, but little Ro didn't have an accident.

I can only imagine how nice and convenient this will be when an accident does occur. All I'll have to do is pull up the mat and dispose of it. Unless there's crazy acrobatics going on, I shouldn't have to wash the sheets. And any time there's less laundry for me to do, I'm one happy Mama!

If you'd like to try GoodNites Disposable Bed Mats or GoodNites Bedtime Underwear, you can use this coupon at your nearest Target and receive $1.50 off your purchase. http://coupons.target.com/goodnites-coupons

Summer Fun + Baby Blankets

Even though Memphis got the memo early this year, today is officially the first day of summer. This weekend, we have movie plans, dinner plans, outdoor plans, many errands, and our second Vacation Bible School program. I also really need to clean the house and get caught up on laundry. Finding time to do everything has been really hard these days. Dain just finished up baseball and has already gone on to the next sport. That's right -- I'm officially a football mom! Rory starts soccer soon too. Most of our evenings will be spent on a field somewhere, sweating and drinking water. Even though it puts us in a time crunch, I wouldn't have it any other way. I seriously love being a sports mom.

This summer is also going to be about babies, babies and more babies. Every time I look at Facebook, there's another announcement or ultrasound picture. I love shopping for new moms and teeny tiny babies. I like to buy things I know every mom needs. I typically get diapers, wipes, burp cloths, and those handy zippered onesies. Unless I'm pushed for time, I almost always include a personalized baby blanket. Because who doesn't love one of those?

Seriously, how cute are these baby girl blankets?

What's your favorite item to get new mom + baby?

Why I'm Loving My Ipsy Glam Bag

There are a lot of monthly subscription boxes out there. Some are relatively cheap, while others are a bit overpriced. I'd always wanted to subscribe to one, but didn't want to end up with products I'd never use. This changed when I heard about Ipsy. For $10, Ipsy sends you a monthly glam bag filled with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products.

In May, I received the cute bag below. It contained nail polish, concealer, brow gel, lipstick, and a roll-on perfume. I haven't used all of the products yet. I love the Zoya nail polish. It isn't too thin or too thick. The lipstick isn't my color, but it's neither heavy or sticky. I still need to try the concealer and brow gel. I gave the perfume to Rory.

This month, I was much happier with the products inside. I got blush, which I needed, a lip pencil, gel eyeliner, a highlighter pencil, and a sparkling cream palette. I thought the sparkling cream palette was eye shadow. I was going to give it to Rory because this chick isn't wearing glitter shadow at 34. It's actually glitter for your body. So, yeah, neither of us will be wearing it. I'm most excited about the gel eyeliner that comes with a built-in brush. I've never tried a gel liner before. This should be fun. I've already used the blush. It's not my normal color, but I still love it.

I love that I can get multiple full-size beauty products for less than $10 a month. I also love that I get exclusive offers directly through Ipsy. Each month, I can go to their site and buy the products I received at a discounted price. This month's items are all discounted 20-35% off. This subscription is actually going to save me money.

Last but not least, Ipsy has a great interactive website. You can see full details about the products you've received, get feedback from others and participate in challenges to win prizes. If you love a product, you can review it and ask for similar items. If you hate a product, you can let them know that too.

Ipsy isn't giving me anything for this post. I just wanted to share one of my new favorite things with all of you. If you'd like to sign up, you can take the initial beauty quiz here and get your very own Glam Bag each month!

Photobucket can kiss my ass.

If you visit my blog today, you'll notice that some of the pictures have disappeared thanks to Photobucket. I'm not shelling out anymore money for a site that continually changes things, goes down from time to time and still has a ridiculous amount of ads. I'm going to start moving my photos elsewhere. Until then, I am sorry for the ugliness.

Any recommendations on photo storage sites?

Free is obviously better, but I don't mind paying for good service.

Don't tell me to host my photos through Blogger because I'm not going to do it.

Thank you, and good day.

*I think I'm going with Flickr. I use it for personal photos, but may as well create an account for the blog too.

They now offer 1 TERABYTE of storage for free.

That's like, a lot.

Books Read in 2013, Part I

I've been watching a lot less tv. This makes more time for reading. And, boy oh boy, do I love to read! So far, I've read ten books this year. I was on a roll, but haven't had as much time in recent weeks. Once I'm done working and shuffling the kids back and forth in the evenings, I'm too tired to concentrate on characters and storylines.

Fly Away Home by Jennifer Weiner
I've read and loved all of Weiner's books. This one is probably my least favorite though. A politician's wife gets cheated on when she thinks her marriage is great. She has two daughters who are going through different struggles of their own. The story itself wasn't bad, but I didn't feel a strong attachment to any of the characters.

Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella
I have also read and loved all of Sophie Kinsella's books. She writes the super cute Shopaholic series. Unfortunately, I didn't love this one. It's about a young woman struggling to find her place in the world when her great aunt dies. She suddenly starts seeing and talking to her ghost. The story had its funny moments, but mostly I just wanted it to end.

Wallbanger by Alice Clayton
I heard this was a better and tamer version of Fifty Shades of Grey. It's definitely tamer, but it's not good. It's actually quite stupid. The two main characters are likeable. I found myself rooting for them to finally get together. But the supporting cast was so one-dimensional, the author shouldn't have even bothered including them.

Into the Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes
I really enjoyed this book. The story centers around a woman who was once in an abusive relationship. As soon as she begins healing and making progress, her ex is released from prison. Craziness ensues. I feel like I should warn you though. This one's pretty graphic and not for the faint of heart.

It Takes Balls: Dating Single Moms and Other Confessions from an Unprepared Single Dad by Josh Wolf
Josh wins for longest book title. If you aren't familiar with Josh Wolf, he's a comedian and regular on Chelsea Lately. He's super funny and super cute. I jumped at the chance to read his book when it came out. If you aren't offended by school boy humor and want to read about single parenting from a guy's point of view, this is the book for you. I read this one in a day and laughed out loud repeatedly. I'll definitely read it again for shits and giggles.

Family Pictures by Jane Green
Jane Green is my absolute favorite chick lit author. I've read two of her books this year. I have one more to go, and I'll finally be caught up with everything she's written. This is the story of two families who are torn apart when a shocking secret is revealed. I can't say much else without giving it away. What I most love about Jane is that she writes stories I can relate to. This one is no different.

Still Missing by Chevy Stevens
Everyone who loved and hated Gone Girl suggested this one as being similar. A woman is abducted and held captive for a year. This is another one that's a little hard to read at times. I finished it in a day though and really enjoyed it.

Lullaby by Amanda Hocking
Amanda Hocking is a young adult author I love. This is the second book in her Watersong series which focuses on a group of girls who are sirens. Think mermaids on steroids. Her books are quick, easy reads. They won't win the Pulitzer Price for Fiction, but they're entertaining nonetheless. If you love cheesy young adult novels, I recommend this series as well as her Trylle and My Blood Approves series.

Dead as a Doornail by Charlaine Harris
This is the fifth book in the Sookie Stackhouse series. I really enjoyed the first few, but this one was rather boring. I really want to finish all of these, but I'm not as interested because of the show. True Blood is crazy good and steers away from the books. Typically, I hate it when they do that. In this case, I'm happy to be surprised every week.

Promises to Keep, Jane Green
This story is heartbreakingly beautiful as a close-knit family deals with cancer. I cried during and cried even more when I read Jane's epilogue. If you can handle the tears, it's a great read.

If you'd like to keep up with what I'm reading and my reviews, you can follow me on Goodreads.

So, tell me, what have you been reading and loving lately?

The Talk of Tinseltown
Baby Girl Tatum + Superman

Erin Brady, Miss Connecticut, is Miss USA 2013. Brady, 25, will become a spokeswoman for breast and ovarian cancer awareness. I used to watch the pageant all the time as a kid, but couldn't care less about it now.

Looks like Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus are divorcing for real this time. Billy Ray filed 3 years ago, but the pair quickly reconciled. Now, Tish has filed for divorce. They've been married 19 years and have 5 children together.

Kim Kardashian, 32, and Kanye West, 36, welcomed their baby girl on Saturday. Kim reportedly delivered the little one five weeks early. Mom and baby are said to be doing great. A name has yet to be released.

The latest Superman movie, Man of Steel, brought in $125 million at the box office this weekend. I went. I saw. I enjoyed. A full review with pictures of hottie Henry Cavill are coming soon!

Channing and Jenna Dewan-Tatum shared a pic of their baby girl on Facebook for Father's Day. Everly Tatum was born back on May 31. Love the name. Love them. My ovaries are seriously hurting now. I think it's more from the sight of Channing holding the baby than the actual baby. *squeals*
