The Birth of a Royal

When Catherine and William welcome their first child, whose due date is July 11, they will announce the birth in a very unique way. A framed announcement will be placed on a gold and wood easel just beyond the gates at Buckingham Palace shortly after the baby arrives. {This is the same easel used to announce William's birth in 1982.} The declaration will be printed, signed by medical staff at St. Mary's Hospital and transported by a police escort. It will include the baby's gender, time of birth and weight. The name, however, will be released at a later date. Even though this method of announcement may be considered old fashioned by some, I personally love it. How exciting!

What do you think?

I'm excited, I think they're a great couple & will make lovely parents, he's such a sweet guy!

Love the easel, I'm all for tradition :)

I love it. Partly for the tradition, and partly because I hope it will give them at least a short moment of privacy. I get it, they're famous and they should get used to it, but everyone deserves some quiet time with family- especially when it's a new baby!

I love this. Way to keep it classy royal family. Can you imagine the influx of people coming to see this.

Thankfully I have wonderful faith in the Royal couple that they will NOT name their Child South or East West!

I love this. Love it.

I meant to add, I love the tradition and the family ties since it was the same easel used for William. *swoon*

can you imagine that pandamonium that will occur the moment anyone walks near that easel with anything resembling a picture frame?
