The Talk of Tinseltown
Don't Stop Believin'

Rachel Zoe is expecting her second child. She already has a 2-year-old son with husband Rodger Berman.

Basketball great Scottie Pippen is a suspect in a felony assault with a deadly weapon investigation. The deadly weapon being his shoes after he reportedly punched and kicked a man outside a Malibu restaurant. The man has since been released from the hospital, but is suffering from multiple injuries. Pippen's attorney currently has no comment.

As most of you know by now, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have named their daughter North West. There is no middle name for her to go by. It's just North West. The pair plans to call her Nori because that's so much better.

Paula Deen has been fired from The Food Network after admitting she used the N-word on numerous occasions. A lot of people think she shouldn't have been fired. There's freedom of speech and then there's being a dumb ass. Saying it in front of a room full of African-Americans at a wedding, well, one should just know better. Duh.

James Gandolfini, the actor who played mob boss Tony Soprano, died after suffering a heart attack this past Wednesday. He was 51. HBO released a statement saying, "He was a special man, a great talent, but more importantly a gentle and loving person who treated everyone no matter their title or position with equal respect."

RIP Mr. Gandolfini

North Freakin' West?!?! Gyahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

And Paula. Wow. But, funny how it's totally okay for rap artists to make tons of money off the N-word. Not a pretty word, regardless of who says it. :(

I had no idea about Paula!! OH MY GOSH!?!?! WHAT??

North west, like IRS not going to be hard enough to grow up with those idiots as parents....ugh.
I still can't believe how Paula said "of course" when asked if she used that word. No apologies, just, it was a different time. Sorry lady, you're not that old.

It's, not IRS stupid iPad!

I have to say....I feel kinda bad for Paula. Should she have said it? Heck no....but it was 20 years ago. I'd hate to be fired later in life for some dumb shiz I might say today. So this is a lesson to always watch your mouth. Just like momma said. I can't even talk about the Kimye baby. I can't.

But Rachel. I die. Bananas. Yes.

I'm so sad about James Gandolfini! I never watched The Sopranos, but he seemed like such a good, normal, kind of quiet guy. Sad! Paula is stupid. This day and age, with her presence? Shut the hell up! She does know better. I don't care that she was fired. I like the name North. I think it's so stupid with West as a last name, but they are two very stupid people, so I wasn't surprised. Nori is not better! Rachel Zoe bugs me so much! I can't believe she spent enough time with Rodger to get knocked up again. Haha!

First, Chile. North West? That's just DUMB! IF they are going to call her NOri just NAME her Nori...these HOllywood folk...I just can't

Second, just because SOME rappers use THAT word doesnt make it anymore right. Wrong is wrong no matter the color. And Paula did not use those words 20 years ago but as early as 2006.

Plus, all black people don't use that word. Racial slurs of ANY kind are not uttered or tolerated in my group of family and friends. Additionally, I personally don't tolerate ANY kind of racial slurs towards any race of people.

I also hate to be judged on some of the stupid shit I've done or said in my younger years but I've never been keen on racial prejudices and assumptions much less racial slurs so...

Lastly, Girl. They named that baby NORTH!!!!! lololol

Sorry to blog in your comments Misty!

People need to quit assigning words so much power. Of course she said it. I bet just about everyone has said it once or twice. Not that it's a pretty word, but come on, people. Nobody should be fired for something they did in their personal life. Not like she said it on air.

Tarsha @ SouthernGirl. CitySwirl said...

Until you have endured the history that word conjures THEN tell me about word power. People need to realize that words mean things. Words do have power especially if that word (or any racial slur) is attached to the history that it is attached to. You can't just go around slinging racial slurs while in the public eye and then get mad when there are repercussions.

Talk to me when you have family pictures, stories, proof of that word in action. I was old enough to remember the stories my great great grandmother told of our family's slavery history. I have pictures of my elders being hanged, water hosed, bitten by dogs and whipped. My grandmothers, grandfathers, uncles, etc. were able to show us physical scars inflicted on them by the people that called them THAT word. So please miss me with the banal "it's just a word" BS. Words mean things.

Further, why would you WANT to call someone a racial slur or any other mean, ugly hurtful word? Words mean things.

Again, sorry to blog in your comments Misty. I promise I'm done! LOL

Oh and no, I have NEVER used that word (and I could give you a book full of other black people who ever never used that word) because it was instilled in me at a VERY early age the TRUE derogatory meaning of that word. So no "everyone" has not said it once or twice.

OK for real I'm done! LOL

I am really saddened by James Gandolfini. He was such a talented actor and I had always hoped for a Sopranos movie.

I love what HBO had to say about James Gandolfini. I didn't watch the show, but it speaks well of him that the people he worked with had such good things to say about him.

That last picture made me want to break out in a solo version 'Don't Stop Believing."

I'd love to have that picture in my office (along will all my other weird, quirky stuff). Where did you find it?

PS- love the blog. You rock my face off.
