Gone Girl Casting News

One of the most talked about books of 2012 was Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. The book was really good even though it pissed me off. If you've read it, you know what I mean. I don't want to ruin the book for anyone who may pick it up. So, I'll give you the briefest synopsis I could find. On the day of Nick and Amy's fifth wedding anniversary, Amy goes missing. I was excited to hear Gone Girl would be made into a feature film. And last week, the powers that be finally decided who will play Nick and Amy.

Ben Affleck

Rosamund Pike

Ben will be the perfect Nick. I don't have an opinion on Rosamund as Amy. I'm not sure that I've ever seen any of her work. She's starred in Jack Reacher, Wrath of the Titans and Pride & Prejudice. No, I haven't seen Pride & Prejudice. I don't know when the movie will be out, but I'm certain a girls' night will be in order.

Have you read Gone Girl? Are you happy with Ben as Nick and Rosamund as Amy?

The Talk of Tinseltown
Bynes, Baby Bardem + The Biebs

Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem welcomed their second child, a daughter, last Monday. Baby Girl Bardem now shares a birthday with Prince George. Penelope and Javier have been married since July 2010. Their son Leo is 2.

Amanda Bynes was hospitalized last week after she was found at the scene of a driveway fire. She was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold which has since been extended to 14 days. If you've kept up with Bynes in the news lately, this is probably the best thing that could have happened to her. Her parents are said to be working closely with her doctors. They've also requested conservatorship over her. I hope she gets the help she needs. Good luck, Amanda!

Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus have called off their divorce. Again. I'm all for people working things out, but I'm beginning to think their on-again off-again relationship is a PR stunt. Stranger things have certainly happened in Hollywood.

Speaking of on-again off-again relationships, Justin Bieber made an appearance at Selena Gomez's 21st birthday bash. Bieber arrived late with a single red rose. Selena reportedly cried and the two snuck off together holding hands. Oh, young love!

Jason Sudeikis confirmed he is leaving Saturday Night Live after eight seasons. Between his successful jump to movies and upcoming nuptials to actress Olivia Wilde, I'm sure he'll be just fine.

Fan Friday
I'm a fan of...

Sarah from Venus trapped in Mars has this link up called Fan Friday. It started out as a sports link up. Now, she's expanded it to pretty much anything and everything. I've been meaning to join in for weeks. So today, you get to find out what I'm a fan of.

Venus Trapped in Mars

1. Sports
I love most sports, but college football and basketball are my faves. I've been a Wildcats fan since elementary school. My husband's been a Noles fan for just as long. So I support both. Since they don't play each other, this hasn't caused us any problems. If the Noles ever join the SEC, he'll be cheering alone.

2. Vampires
I've loved vampires since I jumped on the Twilight bandwagon in 2008. My heart's big enough for more than one dead guy. I love me some Edward Cullen, Damon Salvatore and Eric Northman. This is one trend I'm not ready to let go of just yet. #noshame

3. Drink
My drink of choice is almost always a frozen margarita. Any flavor will do, but I prefer the sweetness of mango. As a matter of fact, I may have one or two of these tonight with dinner.

4. Music
I love music. I listen to every genre and have a lengthy list of favorites. Here are three that will always be at the top of the list. Quite the group, huh?

5. This Guy
I will see anything and everything this guy does. No one's funnier than Adam Sandler, yo. No one.

And since it's Friday, I'm backing that azz up with Whitney.

This song on repeat. All day. Erry day.

What are you a fan of?

Red Soles for the Soul

I recently came across Christian Louboutin's 2013 Fall/Winter Shoe Collection.

If I had Oprah Winfrey money, I'd buy every single one of these.

You can find these & more at the CL website.

The royal baby has a name,
and I called it.

That's right. In this post, I totally predicted the royal baby name. Well, two-thirds of it anyway...

Catherine and William have named their first born George Alexander Louis.

The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.

I'd like to think Catherine was reading my blog from her hospital bed.

Ok, I'm done until this one has his first birthday.

What I'm Watching
Summer 2013

Whodunnit is a murder mystery reality competition. Thirteen contestants put their investigative skills to the test each week to solve a series of puzzling murders. As they uncover evidence, they'll ultimately reveal the murderer among them. Think Clue meets The Haunted Mansion. The winner will receive $250,000. It's really cheesy, but I like it.

Whose Line Is It Anyway? is a revamp of one of my favorite sketch comedy shows. Returning cast members Ryan Stiles, Wayne Brady and Colin Mochrie, along with a celebrity guest, are put through a series of spontaneous improv games prompted by random ideas from the studio audience. I watched the British version. I watched the original US version. Now, I'm watching it again. After work, it's great to unwind with Whose Line because it's super silly and hilarious.

Project Runway is one of my favorite reality shows. If you haven't seen it, it focuses on fashion design. Season 12 kicked off last week. This season, Tim Gunn is on the runway and will be able to save one of the designer's from elimination. I like this new twist because sometimes the judges send the wrong designer home.

Big Brother is my all-time favorite reality show. I've seen every single season. It's a drama filled hot mess which is why I keep watching. A large group of people live together in a house for the entire summer. They're completely cut off from the outside world. Contestants get eliminated each week, and the last one standing gets half a million dollars.

The Goodwin Games was a mid-season replacement on Fox. This sitcom tells the story of three grown siblings who return home after their father dies. In order to inherit his millions, they have to play a series of games he devised to help bring them closer together. There's currently only seven episodes. There's still no word on whether this show will be renewed. I really hope so. It's so funny, and the entire cast is great. I really enjoyed it.

Pretty Little Liars is so stupid. It's the show I love to hate. The premise of the show goes something like this. A girl is murdered. Her four closest friends are suspects. There's someone named "A" who keeps threatening the girls. "A" is probably the murderer. People continue to die. The girls continue to be suspects because they do a lot of dumb shit. I yell at the tv a lot. I mostly continue to watch because the girls are pretty and have great clothes.

Rizzoli & Isles is a crime drama starring Angie Harmon as police detective Jane Rizzoli and Sasha Alexander as chief medical examiner Maura Isles. First off, I love Angie Harmon. I'd love to be her when I grow up. Secondly, it's great watching a show with two female leads. The show has great writing and an even better cast.

True Blood is one of the few shows that can pull off being both sexy and funny. The cast is full of hot actors, both male and female. There's blood, sex and violence. But what else can you expect from a show filled with vamps, wolves, faeries, shifters, and witches? This season isn't my favorite, but it's been improving with each episode.

Dexter, in its final season, is one of the best premium cable dramas out there. Simply put, Dexter is about a serial killer who murders bad people. This is the only show that almost makes me physically ill. Not because it's gross, but because it is so darn suspenseful... I am on the edge of my seat every single time I watch.

Last but not least, we have the two shows I've been slowly catching up on in marathon sessions.

Breaking Bad is my husband's all-time favorite show. He's been dying for me to watch, so I finally caved. A chemistry teacher finds out he has terminal cancer. In order to leave money for his family, he starts producing and selling meth. A lot of people told me it started off slow. I have to disagree. I was hooked from the very first scene. This show is exceptional. I finally get why everyone loves it so much. I hope to catch up before the final season starts next month.

Friday Night Lights is another show I've always heard great things about. Football is like religion in the south. Simply put, it's a way of life. I knew I'd like this show. It was just making the time to start it. I'm only four or five episodes in, but I can already see that it's going to be great. And, in case you're wondering, I'm already in love with Tim Riggins.

We finally ditched cable tv a couple months back. It was a little weird not having a DVR at first, but we quickly adjusted. We currently subscribe to Netflix and Hulu Plus. If I can't find what I need there, I start searching. So far, I haven't missed out on any of my shows.

It's a Royal Baby... BOY!

It's a boy! Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and husband Prince William welcomed their first child today. The baby boy was born at 4:24 p.m., weighing 8 pounds, 6 ounces. A name has not yet been announced for the child, who is now third in line to the throne. The palace said in a statement that the duchess and the baby were doing well and would stay in the hospital overnight. The news was displayed on an ornate wood and gold easel in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace in line with tradition. The bulletin was signed by medical staff and taken by a royal aide from St Mary's to the palace under police escort.

Many people on Facebook and Twitter are complaining. Who cares? Why is this news? Can we talk about something else now? Well, to that I say, why can't it be exciting news for some of us? I'd much rather talk about something positive like the #RoyalBaby instead of listening to someone rant about their bad hair day or the George Zimmerman trial. Just because I'm excited about it doesn't mean you have to be. It doesn't give you the excuse to rain on my sunshiny royal baby day parade though. All you Debbie Downers can kiss my arse.

Now, let's move on to the next big news story, shall we?

What will the royal son's name be?

I've been stuck on George ever since Piers Morgan tweeted it.

How about George Alexander? It has a nice ring to it.

I'm sure whatever they choose will be lovely and way better than North West.

Royal Baby Watch

"Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted this morning to St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington, London in the early stages of labour," reads an official statement from Kensington Palace. That's right! The royal baby will be here soon.

So, place your bets now.

Will the royal baby be a boy or a girl?

I'm going with girl.

Update: It's a boy!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bitchy Resting Face

Do family and friends ask you what's wrong on a regular basis? Do strangers tell you to "smile" or "cheer up" when you're actually in a great mood? Like so many other women, you may be suffering from Bitchy Resting Face.

Ladies, you are not alone. Bitchy Resting Face, or bitchface as I like to call it, is something I've lived with since adolescence. Nine times out of ten, my sourpuss expression isn't intentional. It's just how I look when I'm not sporting a cheese-tastic grin. If I'm not smiling in a particular moment, it doesn't mean I'm miserable or pissed off. It doesn't mean I'm a bitch either.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard, "I thought you were a bitch when I first met you." Well, excuse the hell out of me for not being Buddy the Elf 24-7! For those of you who don't suffer from Bitchy Resting Face, I'm going to give you a piece of advice. It's never ok to judge a woman by the salty expression on her face unless you are 100% certain she's actually salty about something. It's like asking a woman when her baby's due and she responds with, "I'm not pregnant." Bitchy Resting Face will quickly become I'm For Real About To Cut A Bitch Face.

Disclaimer: Bitchy Resting Face should never be confused with ANY of the following:

Bitchy Resting Face effects millions of women around the world, including celebrities.

Kristen Stewart

Ginnifer Goodwin

Anna Paquin

Kate Hudson

Megan Fox

Angelina Jolie

And we can't forget the queen, Victoria Beckham.

I've chosen to embrace my BRF as a way of life.

Because really, there's no better way to ward off unwanted creeps.

Today's post was inspired by this video.

Girlfriends + Shopping

Sometimes, all it takes to cure the summertime blues is a little one-on-one time with your girls. Well, that and shopping. This past weekend, I enjoyed a little bit of both. I hung out with my two best friends from high school. We had drinks on the patio, ate way too much cheese dip and pizza and talked and laughed for hours. I also did a little online shopping. I was planning to buy two pairs of shoes, but ended up buying three. Isn't that how it always happens? They were all super on sale though. Then I got a text from this gal suggesting I buy a new dress for her birthday bash. Well, ok, since you twisted my arm!

flats // t-strap heels // ankle strap heels // dress

If you want the dress, you'll have to wait.

I totally ordered the last one.

The Talk of Tinseltown
Jenny McCarthy + NKOTB

During a taping of LIVE with Kelly and Michael, Josh Duhamel announced he and Fergie will be having a baby boy later this year. Kelly Ripa held up pink and blue onesies and asked Josh to choose. Blue it is!

Halle Berry ate her words when she wed Olivier Martinez in France on Saturday. Six years ago, she told InStyle she'd never get married again. Martinez, who she met on a movie set back in 2010, obviously changed her mind. The newlyweds are expecting a baby boy in the fall. Berry also has a 5-year-old daughter with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.

Cory Monteith, an actor on the hit tv show Glee, was found dead in his hotel room over the weekend. Cory, who was only 31, had publicly admitted to substance abuse problems. The actor had recently completed a stint in rehab. At this time, the cause of death is still unknown, but foul play is not suspected. According to the coroner, Cory died from a mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol. Regardless, it's always tragic when a life is taken too soon.

The View announced that Jenny McCarthy will be their newest co-host. The announcement came a few days after Elisabeth Hasselbeck's departure. Joy Behar will also be leaving the show in August. I might actually watch The View now.

In other Jenny McCarthy news, it's recently been reported that she's dating Donnie Wahlberg. Yes, Donnie Wahlberg from New Kids on the Block. I give this new couple my stamp of approval. How cute are they?

Kelly Osbourne confirmed she's engaged to boyfriend of two years, Matthew Mosshart. He proposed when they were vacationing in Anguilla. Kelly designed her engagement ring to look like an earring her father used to wear. She told Hello! magazine, "I used to hold my finger up to his ear when I was little and say, 'I want a ring like that.' Now I have one!" Aw, Kelly, that's precious!

Jimmy Kimmel was patiently waiting at the altar for his bride Molly McNearney on Saturday when actress Gabourey Sidibe appeared instead. As guests looked on, Gabourey took Molly's walk down the aisle in a wedding gown and veil. Jimmy's bride-to-be set the whole thing up. He was completely surprised. Eventually, Molly had her turn and the two were married. Way to go Molly, this is HI-LARIOUS!
