I've Never

I've never had a pumpkin spice anything. The words pumpkin and spice sound super gross to me. I'll pass.

I've never seen The Princess Bride, Office Space or Say Anything. What? I just haven't found the time.

I've never eaten at Chipotle. There's currently only one in Memphis. I don't live close to it, and I prefer Moe's. How do I know I prefer Moe's when I've never had Chipotle? I. JUST. DO.

What say you? Can we still be friends?

I only use Kleenex.

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Kleenex, but all my opinions are my own. #KleenexAllergy #pmedia http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO

Some people suffer from spring allergies. Some people suffer from fall allergies. My kids and I suffer from allergies all year long. I don't know if it's us, what we're allergic to or the drastic weather changes we often have in Memphis. Regardless of what it is, we are constantly fighting allergy flare-ups throughout the year.

One product I always have on hand is Kleenex. I keep Kleenex in almost every room of the house. I also keep Kleenex Pocket Packs in my purse and car. If I have Kleenex with me, I don't have to worry about my kids wiping snot on their sleeves. We all know that is never a good thing.

In my opinion, there are some things you simply can't buy generic. When it comes to facial tissue, I am a Kleenex snob. I never buy anything else. {I've tried. The others pale in comparison.} Kleenex tissues are not only affordable, they're thick and don't irritate an already sensitive nose. Plus, the boxes come in so many different colors and designs these days. You can pick and choose Kleenex boxes based on your home decor.

And sometimes after watching an episode of Parenthood, I need to grab a couple of tissues for the ugly cry. This is why there's always a box of Kleenex on my nightstand.

If you're an allergy sufferer or simply want to stock up on Kleenex for cold and flu season, you can use this coupon at your local Target while supplies last. Buy Kleenex 4pack, get free wallet pack (2-pk) or pocket pack (3-pk): http://goo.gl/186og3

My Favorite Halloween Movies

When I discovered Helene and Sarah's Halloween link-up, I already had a post in mind. Christmas is by far my favorite holiday, but Halloween comes in a close second. Here are some of my favorite flicks to watch this time of year. As you can see, I much prefer cheese over gore.

"Never jump into a pile of leaves with a wet sucker."

"We should have a plan. Angela Lansbury always had a plan."

"Witch! Witch! You're a bitch! Witch! Witch! You're a bitch!"
"You'd think after three hundred years they'd come up with a better rhyme!"

"You know, I've always wanted a child. And now I think I'll have one... on toast!

I'll miss the naps.

Hey, y'all! I didn't mean to disappear from the blog this week. I came down with a case of the fall sickies. Anytime there's a drastic weather change, I get sick. It happens every spring and every fall. I've been battling nasal congestion, a sore throat and a horrible cough. In the midst of being sick, I went on a job interview. The interview lasted two hours and ended with an offer. I start on Monday. I'm excited about this new opportunity. It's one that will lead me away from mortgage and back to accounting. Who knew the girl who failed Algebra would end up being so good with numbers?

So, my eight weeks of unemployment are coming to an end. I'll miss the naps, time wasted on Pinterest and eating lunch in bed. Now I'll be forced to get up at 5:30 and have my kids out the door by 7:00. It'll be nice having our normal routine back, but it won't be nice getting up that early. This first week isn't going to be fun for any of us. Wish us luck -- lots and lots of luck.

How to Clean a Keurig

I've had my Keurig coffee maker for almost two years. Since I got laid off and have some extra time on
my hands, I decided to take it apart and give it a scrubbing. It's not as hard as I thought it would be.

Here's how I did it:

Step 1 - Remove the drip tray from the brewer.

Step 2 - Take apart the drip tray and clean it.
*All removable pieces of the Keurig are dishwasher safe.

Step 3 - Open the brewer and remove the K-Cup holder.

Step 4 - To remove the K-Cup holder, grab the top with one hand and push on
the bottom of the assembly with your other hand. You may need to use a
little bit of pressure, but it comes out easily.

Step 5 - Once the K-Cup holder is out, it will be in one piece.

Step 6 - Pull gently on the bottom (funnel) to separate it from the K-Cup holder.

Step 7 - Be careful if you clean the K-Cup holder yourself instead of using the dishwasher.
There's a sharp needle inside. As long as you know it's there, it's easy to clean.

Step 8 - To clean the funnel, I used a little elbow grease and a toothpick.
You want the four holes to be clear of any gunk.

Step 9 - Inside the top of the brewer is the exit needle.
Clean this with a toothpick or paper clip.

Step 10 - Last but not least, clean out the water resorvoir and wipe down the exterior of the Keurig.

A more thorough cleaning method called descaling should be done every 3 to 6 months.
Visit this page on the Keurig website for further instructions.
