Random Wednesday #1

I'm linking up with Shanna from Because Shanna Said So for Random Wednesday. I've only been following Shanna for a month or two, but she's quickly become one of my favorite bloggers. Girlfriend has style and attitude for days. Check her out!

At the beginning of winter, I picked up some black jeggings from Target for $10. I love them so much. They fit perfectly and go all the way to the ankle. They're not too thin. They're not too thick. They're just right. I've worn them with my chambray top, oversized sweaters, tunics, dresses, flats, and boots. You can find them in the store with the socks and tights.

Both of my kids were sick with the crud and croup last week. Dain coughed non-stop for 72 hours. There's nothing worse than not being able to help your child when they're sick. Obviously, going to the doctor helped, but not fast enough. Finally, after a round of antibiotics and steroids, they're better. As evidenced by the pics below, my kids are a hoot. Rory dressed herself and then asked to have her picture taken. Dain is dressed like an old man for the 100th day of school.

I had a leftover gift card from Christmas burning a hole in my pocket. I knew I wanted to get a chevron dress from one of the many boutiques I follow on Facebook. Earlier this week, I picked this one up in an online auction from Clash. Isn't it fab? I'm going to have to stay away from Facebook stores for a while. I can see this quick and easy way of shopping getting out of control.

What's up with you?

2013 SAG Fashion Awards; Creme de la Creme

We've come to the end of the line. Overall, the SAG Awards were boring, boring, boring. This goes for both the fashion and the show. This is why I'm thankful for my DVR and fast forward button.

Up first, we have the best dressed man of the night. That Bradley Cooper is just one good looking fella. He's an exceptional actor, looks great in a tux and has a killer smile.

The best looking couple would have to be Jon Hamm and longtime girlfriend Jessica Westfeldt. They always look so glamorous together on the red carpet.

It was a lackluster night for fashion. Overall, I was very disappointed with Hollywood's gown choices. Ultimately, I have to go with Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture as my favorite. It's not the greatest dress I've ever seen, but she looks more put together than most. Everything about this look is simple and effortless, which is why it works. Navy is a great color for her.

Last but not least, we have my favorite candid of the night.
I wonder what these two hotties were talking about.

2013 Red Carpet Fashion; You Ain't Got No Alibi

January Jones

Julianna Margulies

Julianne Moore

Marianne Cotillard

Thoughts:
All of these dresses are horrid.
January's dress has too much going on. The black straps at the top are totally unnecessary.
Her hair and lipstick look awful.
Julianna's whole look is bad.
Julianne's dress is ill-fitting in the bust. And white isn't doing her any favors!
Marianne is gorgeous. Why does she always pick weird dresses?
And again, she's wearing plain black pumps that are clearly not red carpet material.

2013 SAG Awards Fashion; Shine Bright Like a Diamond

Helen Hunt

Jennifer Garner

Jenna Fischer

Naomi Watts

Julia Styles

Jacki Weaver

Thoughts:
First off, I hate the shape of Helen, Jennifer & Naomi's dresses. Boring!
Helen's dress, jewelry and clutch are too matchy-matchy.
The same goes for Jennifer.
I like the silhouette of Jenna's dress, but that's it.
I love Naomi's hair and makeup.
Julia's dress looked gorgeous on tv, more blue than silver. The boob area is weird though.

2013 SAG Awards Fashion; Men Men Men Men, Manly Men

Peter Facinelli, Eddie Redmayne, Jim Parsons

Eric Stonestreet, Nolan Gould, Darren Criss

John Slattery, Chris Tucker, Daniel Day-Lewis

Hugh Jackman, Aaron Paul, Bryan Cranston, Justin Timberlake

Thoughts:
Eddie's tux is brown velvet. This is rather unfortunate.
I can't help it. John Slattery will always be the politician who wanted to pee on Carrie Bradshow.
If you love Sex and the City, you'll know what I'm talking about.
Chris Tucker's bow tie is huge!
I'm so disappointed in JT. He wrote a song called Suit & Tie, yet his suit and tie look like this.

2013 SAG Awards Fashion; Florence Nightingale

Kerry Washington

Jayma Mays

Sofia Vergara

Rose Byrne

Jane Krakowski

Ariel Winter

Ellie Kemper

Thoughts:
I'm disappointed with Kerry, Jayma & Sofia.
I don't like Rose's dress at all, but somehow it works on her. I think it's the hair and lips.
The top of Jane's dress doesn't fit right, and it's almost too peach. Maybe on a brunette?
Ariel's dress is too old for her. She's fifteen! {Happy birthday, Ariel!}
Ellie's is rather matronly too.

2013 SAG Awards Fashion; Hawaiian Punch

Jessica Chastain

Lea Michele

Nina Dobrev

Freida Pinto

Sarah Hyland

Sally Field

Kaley Cuoco

Thoughts:
Jessica is really pretty, but I just can't get on board with a redhead in a red dress.
Pink is a great color for Lea, but I don't like the dress. It's not the prom!
I love Nina's dress. The color and silhouette are great.
It almost looks too casual though. I'm sure it's fancier in person.
Sarah's dress is gorgeous and a great color, but I wish it weren't strapless.
Sally looks amazing!
I never like what Kaley wears. I don't like the dress, the shoes or the hair. It's all very odd.

2013 SAG Awards Fashion; Black Betty

Even though there were pops of color, black reigned supreme on the SAG red carpet.

Elisabeth Moss

Anne Hathaway

Tina Fey

Amy Poehler

Julie Bowen

Jaimie Alexander

Morena Baccarin

Michelle Dockery

Naya Rivera

Claire Danes

Jenna Elfman

Angela Kinsey

Sigourney Weaver

Jane Lynch

Thoughts:
Most of these dresses are horrible.
I think Elisabeth's dress is the best of the bunch, which isn't saying much.
Her heels are too plain though. They're for the office, not an awards show.
Anne's dress is fugly.
Amy looks really pretty, but I don't like her dress.
Is Julie Bowen in leather? No, just no.
Jaimie, Peter Facinelli's girlfriend, looked great until she turned. HELLO SIDEBOOB!
I don't like her shoes with the dress either.
I like some of Claire's dress, but could do without the odd sleeve, and I don't like her dark lips.
Sigourney's dress is just plain hideous.
