I've been blogging for a little over four years. On Saturday, I attended my first blog meetup. I met eight fabulous bloggers who all live in and around my hometown. There were twelve of us in total, but I already knew three lovely ladies. Laura from Walking in Memphis in High Heels put everything together. She got us reservations at Local Gastropub in Midtown Memphis. She brought cupcakes and goodies for each of us, all from local vendors. Bekah from Matters of Merrymaking provided the decorations. And Jaime, who may not be great at driving on the interstate, is great at making cakes. You can see her yummy creation below.
For some of us, it's never easy meeting new people. On Saturday, this wasn't the case at all. I'd been reading some of the ladies' blogs for several months. Others, I didn't know at all. By the end of the night, I felt like I'd made eight new friends. I had a ton of fun and felt completely at ease with this great group of Memphis bloggers. We're already planning our next meetup.
Let's start with what I wore:

Old Navy top, Target skinnies
GoJane riding boots, Target leg warmers

Back Row: Alyssa, Judith, Colleen, Bekah, Rach
Front Row: Natalie, me, Terri, Jennifer, Jaime, Laura, and Jennifer
At first, I had a 3-way tie for Best Dressed. In the end, after looking at a lot of photos, I decided on one clear winner. Jessica Chastain was the first major star to arrive on the red carpet. I like to think she did it on purpose. "I know I look damn good, so you're going to have to watch me walk around and smile in this fabulous dress all night long." Seriously, chica looked amazing!

Chastain chose a bronze Armani Privé gown. I'm really surprised I love this as much as I do. Even though she's a fair skinned redhead, it all works. She looks amazing. The dress is gorgeous. The fit is perfect. I love her hair and her makeup, especially the red lips. I feel like these pictures don't do her justice. If you saw her on the red carpet, you know she killed it.

My other favorites...

Naomi Watts also went with Armani Privé. This gunmetal gown was a show-stopper. I love the color, the cut and the fit. Did you see her hubby taking pics of her with his phone? So cute.

In my opinion, you can never go wrong with a black + gold Alexander McQueen. I would totally wear this dress. Salma Hayek looks fab + fierce. Love the smoky eye and bold updo!

Sandra Bullock wore Elie Saab! You remember how I chose an Elie Saab for my pretend Oscar dress, right? Well, this is the one I almost went with. She looks so pretty, y'all. I just love Sandy B.

Next up, we have Reese Witherspoon in Louis Vuitton. I don't love the dress, but I am in love with her overall look. Her hair is perfect, and I love her makeup and classic diamond jewelry.

Lastly, we have Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta. I don't really love this shape. It's not original. It's strapless, and it's poofy. It looks great on her though. The color works. And how fabulous does she look? I love her simple makeup and updo. Mostly, I just want to steal her diamonds.

Can we talk about Jennifer Lawrence? She gets her own post because she is quickly becoming my favorite actress. Seriously, the girl is so down to earth. She won't hesitate to make fun of herself or say what's on her mind. Even though this dress is not my style, I can't fault her. She's the current face of Dior, so of course she's going to wear one of their designs. Even if you don't like the dress, you can't say she looks bad. I'd like to point out what I do like, which is a lot.
the earrings • the back necklace • her hair • her makeup • just her

And, in case you missed the show, Jennifer Lawrence fell going up the stairs to receive her Oscar for Best Actress. She stopped, took a moment to recover and then started to laugh. What else can you do? Oh, and did anyone else see Hugh Jackman rush to help her? I just love him. *Apparently Bradley Cooper rushed to help her too.
I totally missed it. Presh.

When asked about falling:
"What do you mean what happened? Look at my dress! I tried to walk up stairs in this dress, that's what happened! I stepped on the fabric, and I think they wax the stairs."
On what went through her mind as she fell:
"A bad word that I can't say. It starts with 'F.'"

At some point, she did this backstage. I have no idea why, but it makes me love her even more.

Congrats to JLaw for being a phenomenal actress and a bad ass.
