Ten Years Later

Yesterday marked ten years since the finale of Friends aired on NBC. On one hand, it seems like our favorite friends have been gone for quite some time. On the other hand, thanks to reruns, it feels like they never left. Speaking of reruns, I'm currently watching The One Where Rachel Has a Baby.

Rachel: How may centimeters am I dilated? Eight? Nine?
Dr. Long: Three.
Ross: Just three? I'm dilated three!

If you're a Friends fan like me, you've seen every episode countless times. You feel like you actually know Monica, Ross, Chandler, Joey, Rachel, and Phoebe. The jokes are still funny, and you can quote entire episodes.

Joey: Here it is, buddy boy. You hide my clothes? I'm wearing everything you own.
Chandler: Oh my God, that is so not the opposite of taking someone's underwear.
Joey: Look at me, I'm Chandler. Could I *be* wearing any more clothes?

When trying to come up with a clever post to commemorate Friends ending ten years ago, I came to realize that two of my old posts are perfect. So, I'm working both of them in today. Enjoy!

5 Important Life Lessons I Learned From Friends

#1
Don't ask a guy out unless you're sure he likes you.

Joey: Alright Rach, the big question is, does he like you?
Right, because if he doesn't like you, this is all a moo point.
Rachel: A moo point?
Joey: Yeah, it's like a cow's opinion. It just doesn't matter. It's moo.

#2
There are seven basic erogenous zones on a woman's body.

Monica: Now everybody knows the basic erogenous zones. You got 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.
Chandler: There are seven?
Monica: The important thing is to take your time. You want to hit them all, and you want to mix them up.
You gotta keep them on their toes.
Rachel: Ooh, toes!

#3
When getting a spray tan, it's imperative you follow directions.
If you don't, you could end up AN EIGHT!

Chandler: Hold on. There's something different about you.
Ross: I went to that tanning place your wife suggested.
Chandler: Was that place... the sun?!

#4
If you can't get your baby to laugh, rap Sir Mix-a-Lot's Baby Got Back to them.
It works like a charm. Babies love big asses.

Rachel: What did you do to make her laugh?
Ross: I, um.. Well, I sang.. Actually, I rapped Baby Got Back.
Rachel: You what?!
You sang, to our baby daughter, a song about a guy who likes to have sex with women with big giant asses?

#5
When your best girlfriend is having a bad day, you grab some beer,
pop some popcorn and sit around in wedding dresses.

Rachel: You know, I gotta tell ya. This really does put me in a better mood.
Monica: I wish there was a job where I could wear this all the time.
Maybe someday there will be...

"More important than anything else is the look on people’s faces when you cross paths with them in the street, or in the store, or in the grocery line. You can always tell that you were - maybe still are, maybe always will be - a part of their family." -- Matt LeBlanc // Joey Tribbiani

Favourite post of the week :)

Is it really 10 years, wow!!

Am laughing out loud at "moo point"!!

I taught my children that they have to count mississipily :)

Ross & the tanning place & Ross and the teeth-whitening are two of the best Friends episodes ever, I laugh just thinking about them!

If my brother & I are chatting & one of us mentions a party, one of us always says "an awesome par-tay"...remember Ross when he moves into his new apartment & has the party with the name badges?!

I have lots of TV shows that I love but I'm not sure if any make me feel so personally connected & related as Friends, it's so well written. I cried at that show as much as I laughed at it....cried at all the weddings, cried when Rachel came back from the airport, cried when Monica & Chandler got engaged! I don't think any show has as many good moments.

Love this post, you've really made me smile :)

love, love, love - thanks for the good laughs. The Baby Got Back episode was one of the best, but my favorite is when Ross has the leather pants and he cannot get them off/on during a date.

I LOVE Friends. Hands down the best show ever.

My favorite quote is about the nanny Ross and Rachel hire, and Monica says, "I guess she's pretty, in an obvious way." Ross, "Yeah, obvious beauty's the worst. I like to have to work to find someone attractive. Makes me feel like I earned it."

I remember watching the series finale at my house with my study group in college. Luckily it was just four girls. We worked for a few hours, then Jacob ordered pizza for us and we watched and cried. Then couldn't get anything else done for the night because we just kept talking about our favorite episodes. Such a good show!

And I can say the next line after each of your quotes.

I still love this show so much.
