19 Days

It's been 19 days since my last post. In the last 19 days, life has kept me pretty busy. I got promoted. One of my dear friends had a baby. My son got his first black eye. Dain's competitive baseball team kept us on the road a lot. This past weekend was our last tournament until fall. We're all excited to have our Saturday and Sundays back for the next couple months.

Cheer kicked off with a 2-day camp. It's going to be a lot of fun coaching 63 girls. When the stress level gets high, I plan to unwind with a few margaritas. The Memphis heat has kicked in. The high today was 97 with a head index of 104. I hate the heat, but still have a lot of fun summer activities planned. The kids are all about sleepovers these days. We've got a few of those coming up. There will be fireworks, a Fourth of July bash, zoo fun, pool days, and more.

What have you been up to?

2015 Cannes Film Festival Fashion

Here are my favorite gowns from this year's Cannes Film Festival.

I like this a lot.
It's simple, but different.

This dress is gorgeous.
I think her hair should have been up though.

I really like this dress.
It's so pretty.

This dress is stunning.
It looks great on her.

This is a great color.
I like the fit too.

She's 57 and looks fabulous.
I love the color.

I love this green on her.
I don't like the purple lip though.

I'm kind of surprised I like this.
It's really fun and works for her.

This is probably the best I've seen her look.
The dress is pretty and doesn't look too bridal.

I seriously love this.
I think it works with or without the belt.

This dress is simple yet elegant.
The color is great too.

It's weird for me to do a post featuring only dresses I love.

Book Review
Everything You Ever Wanted
by Jillian Lauren

I don't read a lot of memoirs. I don't have anything against them. I just typically choose fiction over non-fiction. I was recently given the opportunity to review Jillian Lauren's latest memoir, Everything You Ever Wanted.

This book chronicles Jillian's marriage to Weezer guitarist Scott Shriner and their struggles with infertility and adoption. She shares their son's journey from Ethiopia to America, as well as the behavioral challenges he faces along the way. Jillian doesn't take no for an answer and pushes herself and others to find help for her son.

I loved this book because of Jillian's honesty. She doesn't sugar coat anything. She never claims to be a perfect person. She never claims to be super mom. Her daily struggles are real and require a lot of patience and strength. It's a story that any mother can relate to, the story about the unconditional love a parent has for their child.

You can purchase Jillian's memoir on Amazon and read more about her family here.

I can't wait to dive into her other books, Some Girls: My Life in a Harem and Pretty.
